Whatever happened to that guy with the deep voice that did all the voiceovers for the B movies in the 80s? Seemed like everything from Dimension films et al had him on board....

Found him! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjWKE-IJ4R8

To me Ultraviolet has aged really quite well and is still one of if not the best takes on the genre.

If we're talking TV one series I loved at the time is Dark Skies. Thought it had a lot of potential, sadly cancelled though they did see to write it so it closed out, if not according the the original arc then at least with some finality.

Also Terminator TSCC turned out well, certainly got more interesting in Series 2 and was looking to have a stronger story than the films because they seemed prepared to take risks.

Films - Daybreakers is arguably Sci-Fi and I thought it was quite good.

A thought for the maintainer of the list - might be worth putting Equilibrium, Dark City and eXistenZ into the list itself, they're too good to keep outside where someone might miss them.

Would that not be like a live action Akira? Pants!
...Oh God, that's just reminded to check IMDB to see how Hollywood are getting on with fking up Akira.

You know they are going to wreck an amazing film when you see these two lines:

"For Tetsuo, the production team is looking for a male of "any ethnicity" who is 20–25 years old and "strung out, intense, a street rat."

and

"On May 28, 2013, Whitta's script of the film shows that Manhattan is owned by the Japanese."

In the words of JAYB; Jesus Christ.....
I thought it was canned.

and as for the stE that they wanted to make it into, no one i know will be watching it.

i mean, akira is in japan, whereas the live action will be in america, and they will not be japanese characters , but american jocks. instead of futuristic motorbike like in the anime, they will be harleys.... the list of ste they want to change in the live acton goes on, and on. and it will be the worlds worst remake of a film.

I remember that! Was very scary. Was Charles Dance one of the main characters?
Not that I remember.

Ah, I remember that. Made me LOL hard for at least two episodes all the scary kid thing would say was 'Fna!'

"Go on... say 'Gor'..."
"F'na!"

It's excellent and definitely qualifies as hiding in the background. Not really scifi though.

I know there is one that lurks and a computer game is based on it (on of my favourites). Not seen it myself and it may well be pants. The book was Roadside Picnic and the film is "Stalker". Not in the creepy stalking sense. Anyone seen this?

My nomination for the list.

I shouldn't like this. It's got Stifler, The Rock, Buffy and Justin Timberlake in it. The film Richard Kelly made after Donnie Darko. None of the reviews are great.

But I really like it, in a little bit mental kind of way. I'll just leave this here...

I like the look of that, will search it out on line tonight.

My nomination : Total Recall 2070. Candian show, guess you could say that it was inspired by the film. Enjoyed it a lot, shame it didn't keep going; whole series is available on youtube.

Cargo is a decent space travel film, and I think it may be the only swiss film I've ever watched.

Trying to remember one where an alien lands and they go to war with some crusaders. Was supposed to be a comedy.

Think it was not so funny.
