Depends what is available and what premium you are willing to pay for so little advantage...apart from the badge.

Looked last year and couldn't find a used m sport in my budget...but soo glad I bought the SE.

It is feasible to upgrade the nav, and it's DIY job if you're reasonably competent...you want to go off and google 'CIC Nav retrofit / upgrade'
Costs about £2k though doesn't it?

Not sure if parts would cost that much second hand??

Just had a look on eBay, and there seems to be a lot (>100) of the “CIC” systems for sale, all under £1k for the bits.

If the only physical differences between them was the navigation, I may enquire about the grey 2008 one above, the price seems OK to me?

My only concern is the Spoiler, but assuming that just comes un stuck?

Sorry for the slight thread highjack -

Quick question - do the SE Coupe Autos come with paddles on the steering wheel or was that an additional option?

Im looking at one for sale but I can't tell from the photos if it has them or not.

Thanks in advance.

I thought it was an option, but I've never seen one without the paddles.

You know those threads, when someone is asking after swathes of information, with great ambitions for purchasing something? Weeks pass and you check them, and check them, and nothing has happened and you almost begin to feel a slight anger at the OP each time they ask for more advice but nothing seems to transpire?

Well this isn't one of them!

I am now the proud owner of a 2008 Le Mans Blue E92 335i Msport. So to all who contributed to this thread, thanks a great deal for helping me out.

After a 6 month wait to find a decent 335i I've also taken the plunge. Picking up on Saturday from Birds http://www.birdsgarage.co.uk/used-cars/bmw-3-serie...

Interestingly,my j ourney too started with a classic M Sport, Manual with black interior. I've pretty much landed up with anything but! Having never driven an auto I really fancy the box on the 335i and given the feedback wanted to try it. I've grown to like the understated 'stealth' looks of the SE although definitely will be sticking some nicer alloys on in place of the 17"s at the moment and might look at an M-sport bumper in time.

Fingers crossed my ownership will be an enjoyable one!

ps. sorry about the quality lurking I've been doing . . .

Crikey, £14k? Is there a crate of gold in the boot?

It's loaded and in absolutely superb condition all round and, of course, I didn't actually pay £14k. Market value based on the cars I've seen over the past months is probably around £12-£12.5k Set of 19" twists in with the deal so I can convert the current wheels to winter tyres. Sweet.

Interestingly I chopped in my 997 C2S for my 335i and I don't miss the Porsche at all.

Great cars without question, but so is the 335i.
Well I went from 335i to 911 C4S. I love the porsche but did like the 335 a lot. More practical, nicer interior & gizmos and a lot cheaper to run. Broke my heart when I traded it in - a 25000 2006 model and I got £10k. The interior should have been worth more than that!

What do people think will happen to 3 series prices once the 4 series is released and starts to hit the market? Rapidly tumble or carry on at the current pace? Thinking of getting a 335i/330i very soon but don't want to buy to then quickly take a massive depreciation hit due to a new model.
Would be an 08 coupe around £14k

I think you've got at least 2 years before the lower end of the E90 market starts to get affected by the 4 series release. The upper end of the market (the £28k plus cars) however will probably get hit quite quickly I suspect.

Generally I suspect we'll see E90 values stabilise at the lower end of the market for a while, as they are naturally held up by E46 values. Once the E46 starts to thin out due to age and mileage, the E90 should start to drop again.

That was my thinking having just bought a '56 335i - I figure I can own it for a couple of years and then trade up to a face-lift model in a couple of year's time.

Interesting points.

Now to just decide whether the extra couple of £k is worth it for an M Sport.
It's a fair bit of money for what amounts essentially to cosmetics but you should get some of your money back when you sell, I think. Generally as we get into 4 figure territory the differential between SE and M-Sport will reduce significantly I suspect although it will always exist.

I personally didn't go for the M-Sport, as I wanted something very Q and also my 335i gets parked on the street so it isn't a show car by any means, although mechanically it is spared no expense.
