Here's the very last shot I took of the Morgan before driving off into the night to hand it back cry

the light over it's roof and arches in this is fantastic... really accentuates the flowing curves. love it.

Hi Danny - I had a go (hope you don't mind), results as below smile (Cue people saying they prefer the original biggrin)

- straightened it up
- cropped a bit off the right and off the bottom
- cloned out the branches which were overlapping the top right of the building
- removed colour cast
- added contrast
- sharpened

All simple stuff done in Photoshop Elements - it's worth learning just a few basics even if you're not into that side of things smile

finally had a go at some editing after playing on photoshop 7.0 for a few hours yesterday (the new business is a bit quiet at the moment)
I know nothing about editing and this is just messing about and the best i could manage, thought the bit of colour spot looked good personally. I also like the way the black and white picks out the feather pattern on Winnie my youngest hen smile

C+C wanted please as its about time i learnt how to edit even if its only a small amount.

Matt

Didn't take long at all - just 10 minutes. If you are getting keen then learning some basic post processing (aka pp) technique is an important part of the progression (in my opinion of course!). You needn't be spending hours doing it and it's not hard to learn the basics smile

I'm going to sound thick here, but I've noisied through the exif and I can't work out why the background is so noisy? It doesn't detract from the image much, I'm just curious.

On my 550D that if you shoot ISO 100, get a photo that's a stop or two under, and then push it back up in LR/Elements, you get a perfectly serviceable picture but with the addition of a bit of noise.

Underexposed and recovered in post is my guess, basically.

We have here some background that is relatively low exposure with little colour differentiation (probably processed in sRGB space) then heavily sharpened which causes a lot of the issues.

I would process in 16bit aRGB sharpen the flower but mask off the background and use some noise reduction there.

First time out shooting landscapes properly for bloody ages and boy could I tell, proper rusty. In other news one of my photos has got through to the second round of judging/voting in Nikons 2012 photo contest which I'm pretty chuffed about :-)

I think Rob has mentioned the sharpening which was increased as was clarity in the Raw file but not a Hugh amount.
The background is probably further away than it looks and used the 70-200 lens set on the 1.3m setting which seemed to increase the DoF/blur. Did try a noise reduction but wasn't keen on the result and for me to try to take out the flower and just reduce noise on the background would be way beyond my capabilities in Elements.. lol
Didn't really have any intention of taking this, was trying to get hover flies but as soon as I got them in focus they zoomed off, so gave up frustrated and tried something easier!
