I've heard wrapped headers can cause them to crack, any truth in this?

Any new mods planned for your car stevie?
None for the near future. Just going to try and actually use it more often instead of ballsing about changing things !

Already done one local sprint and a hillclimb. Really isnt as bad as it should be, but was superb fun. More enjoyable than straight lines, and a damn sight cheaper.

So hopefully another one or two of them this year, TOTB, and maybe a drag strip. Not trying to break any records though.
What diff (LSD) do you run?

Ive heard this too but I'm not sure how long it actually takes, if it takes 5-6 years then I would do it but I'm not 100% sure plus my car lives outside everyday

Ive a Ford 8.8" in my car, and just a basic Ford Racing Torsen diff.

I wanted something strong, fit and forget and it has been that.

However...doing those local events, especially the tight twisty hillclimb has highlighted one downside of a torsen ( and some previous years of TOTB on the handling circuit ). If one wheel gets light enough you will lose traction.
Apparently Quaife's are pre-loaded to try and prevent this happening, my unit is not.
Although I doubt any torsen type would be able to get round this 100%

It is a slight annoyance, but at the same time, I'm no drift expert, so spinning one wheel a little at times is probably no bad thing. It isnt severe enough to warrant a change, and is only on very tight stuff.
Straight lines and faster stuff, no issue at all. On the road, no issue at all.

Oddly as well, and not sure if it's diff or braking related, but under hard braking it's very prone to locking a rear wheel, occasionally two, but a single rear wheel does stop quite often.

A good plated type diff would probably solve these issues. But one thing I know about every plated diff...they all use diff pins and diff pins break. Far too often for my liking.

Quite correct MyM8V8. Do that, remove insulation from underside of bonnet. When drag racing in QLD we sometimes left a bag of ice on our FAST intakes as well.

Cheers

Anyone got a pic of the above mentioned seal.

Always looking for little things to do to improve under bonnet temps.

What will removing the seal do, allow more air out when moving along?

Stainless steel does not like being wrapped. Ive seen a lot of turbo headers almost fall apart after being wrapped. It does take a fair while, but it does lead to premature cracking and also corrosion.

As to whether it would be as bad on a n/a car, harder to say. Turbo headers would get a lot hotter.

I'd only wrap them if there was no other option, and only wrap as little as possible.
