Bought one in resale silver soon after (not my first choice of colour) but had all the right options (PPP, 18" tather than 19", LSD, 3 zone climate HK) and lowish milage - so also a very happy man and enjoying the
To be honest, you missed a massive headache with the car i bought. I had some major bodywork issues / poor dealer prep issues that took the best part of 3 months to sort out. The dealer service was terrible and a couple of times i was at the point of throwing the keys back. That said, after some major arguments the car is now tip-top and i couldnt ask for more from it. Brilliant cars these, and i reckon probably better in 75% of areas than my previous M5. A true, 'does everything and anything' car! Never had or considered a red car but LOVE that colour on that car!!
I had dismissed Red for a C63 Coupe also, but after seeing it next to a black and a white, my descision was made.matc said:

I love the colour, looks really nice with a little wax and polish.
I am going to check out a C63 over the weekend, seems like really good value at the moment.
Anyone have any thoughts on how it stacks up next to a facelift XFR?
Also was there any major facelifts/updates etc on the C63 from 2008 to now?

The C63 was facelifted in 2011 - different dash with Led driving lights at front the most noticeable. Also has the latest gearbox which although better in general I have found mine cannot handle more than 3 laps of Goodwood on a trackday. The facelifted model does have a much nicer dash and screen though rather than the flip in/out one previously.
I bought a white Coupe last year due to looks but mainly down to the seats - the saloon and estate have different seats to the coupe - the coupe seats being one piece and way more comfy for me.
Overall I love the beast - noise is amazing - keep in Sport+ and get the blipping throttle on down changes ! Tried a few things like Maserati GT, M5, M3 and RS5 but nothing gave me the same feeling.

mine wasn't supersmooth either- but luckily no big issues- on the drive home the oil light comes on - one litre mobil one topped up - phoned back and said I was worried so short after the service (which was part of the deal...) - short pause - aeeh Sir sorry "forgot to service it".... how s that (to be fair they paid for the service in Southampton so I did not have to go back up to them... but Mercede Experience should be a bot more than a nicve coffe and a sitting area- i am also very impressed with mine (just came back from some bahn storming in the car's natural habitat - Autobahn around Stuttgart) and the noise is awsome

My 5p worth on the options list which can really, really piss you off if you get it wrong. (all the hi-tech stuff is rubbish, the 6.2 litres are hilarious is my distilled view)
I paid £48k for mine in Dec 2012 the dealer was asking £51k. It had less than 5k miles on a March 12 plate (list was £72k). They are coming to the end of life (and their like will not be seen again) so negotiate as hard as you can.

Also, what happened to your gearbox after 3 laps exactly?

I spent several hours hammering both the CLS 63 and the C63 Coupe at Brooklands. The CLS never missed a beat, but the Coupe kept going into limp mode until the oil temperature dropped. Quite surprising really, given the nature of the car. Going to go and check this one out later, see if I like it and if its worth replacing my Cayenne turbo with!
