I WILL now be fitting mine. I was driving along a single carriageway A road this evening, 55 mph, large lorry came the other way, and the buffeting wind from the lorry popped my bonnet catch!!!

QBee I am in the process of growing some of these for drilling the holes

It's not a job I am looking forward to but it's got to be done

Tip.

1. Fit the pin with the nuts first, into the panel under the bonnet.

2. then a dob of paint on the top of each

3. and lower the bonnet onto the pins, evenly.

4. Drill from underneath the bonnet, where the paint mark is. Fine hole first 2.5 mm,

5. then close the bonnet onto the pins again and see how accurate it is.

6. Adjust accordingly.

7. Widen holes to take the catches

8. Order replacement bonnet.

Anyone have a better idea?

So the bit of iner wing where the studs go is that in the footwell? Or some secret void blatherd up in glue?

Both sides are drilled through to the cab..

You can easily access the underside on both sides, just a bit of neck craning!

Think I know where he means. I was on my back in the footwell, head by the battery, feet up on the Aga hoop (it's a posh, country living, type of Chimaera) about half an hour ago in a car park in Lincoln, like you do, looking for some switch or other, so yes, there is easy access.....! silly

My bonnet is now popping open every time I drive over anything bigger than a gnat's willy. Time to attack it with a screwdriver. And from running smoothly for the last 90 miles, it suddenly developed the ability to stall immediately on start-up, no idle whatsoever, and the MIL light came on. Cannot see any obvious air leaks, so i am stumped. Think I might steer clear of Lincoln in future.

Just a thought - as it's Ladies Day at Royal Arsecot, did the MIL light come on because I was devoid of millinery?

QBee i think I am going down the road of bonnet first so I can get the bit you see right the rest can be done as you have to as long as you get them so they don't clash with the pedal box mounts tried a template on the bonnet corner an there's 10mm difference in the 2 sides but I think iam there second pair of eyes coming tonight to check before DRILL time

Ive got different catches but the pins are similar.

I'll grab me ipad and take a couple of snaps so you can see the position I drilled.
