You don't like running when it's windy?

Did just over 10 miles yesterday lunchtime - ran from work to Bristol Zoo and back. Not a route I'd have usually chosen but we managed to leave a camera at the zoo after a family trip there on Monday, so I went to retrieve it as part of my lunchtime run. Legs felt tired after the track session on Tuesday and not much better now so today's lunchtime hill reps may be tougher than normal hehe

Hill reps OK in the end helped by a nice strong tailwind. 10x250m hill with jog back recovery done in 47-50s, recovery of 80-90s, 10 mins warm up and down to get to the hill and back. Frustratingly it turns out there's no hot water at work today, so a cold shower was quick and unpleasant frown

Bored of the Diamond League already, Bolt arrives in an electric racing car and does three laps of the track waving to the crowd, pathetic. Sure he fills stadiums but its getting tedious now... he is half the man that Rudisha is with three times the fuss...

Did 5k inter club road race in 18.46 Tuesday evening. Best time since 2006. Not bad considering I had a 10k race 2 days before! Pleased, but if I was 7 or 8 seconds quicker it would be sub 6 minute miles. Never satisfied! Next time...

I seem to be on a really good streak at the moment. After the 24 hour endurance relay on Saturday and Sunday I then did 6.5 mile Monday and close to 9 on Tuesday before finally Reston Wednesday. Tonight was our club handicap race which I ran the 2 miles to as a warm up. Legs felt awful and really tired so I was amazed to still manage a PB! 15 minutes dead for a 2.2 mile race.

That's 8 PBs out of my last 8 races at all distance from tonights 2.2 upto marathon!

And 45 miles run in the last 6 days is also an all time high.

Loving it! biggrin

Whenever it is really windy it feels like it is always against me!

I shod have waited though as I am using ice on my foot now.

Hopefully be fine for Saturday or Sunday.

Do you have a proper running shop near you at all? The likes of Runners Need, Sweatshop, Up and Running and some independents will all be able to stick you on a treadmill and video you running and how your foot lands to determine whether you pronate etc.

We all like to wear things that look good, but you need to try and avoid being brand or style biased based on the recommendations.

You also don't need to splash out on the best whizz bang shoes just yet. Some entry-level, maybe mid tier shoes will do for now until you decide you're really keen.

Best of luck and hope running goes well for you.

I could have smacked my head against a brick wall earlier when I received my Parkrun result of 20:00 minutes! A PB of 2 seconds but the sub-20 minute finish is just taunting me now. My watch had registered 19:59:58 so I was waiting with bated breath all day for the results text and email to come through.

Oh well, always another week... I'm in Cardiff next weekend and I know that's a faster and flatter course.

No running over the weekend for me. I really seem to be struggling with getting out at the weekends even if all I need to do is a single run frown Must sort my head out on that front banghead

Ran half my commute today, getting off the train at Bristol Temple Meads and running the remaining 5.5 miles. It was an ok run despite feeling tired and it being still early (run started at 6:45am). Got to work and discovered that the train I got off was delayed at Temple Meads so for once I got to work before colleagues on the train hehe Still not fixed the hot water at work though so it was a chilly shower frown

Need to fit a session in tomorrow lunchtime around a midday meeting.

Just got back from a 5k lunchtime run on tied legs.... phew!. Completed my second ever 100 miler at the weekend, this one on the South Downs Way and all I can say is what an event clap these longer events are starting to be really well oganised and popular now that it normally means a great day out with some like minded people in an awesome location. Get involved guys!

22:29 for me on Saturday. A PB by 2 seconds, and the last Park Run for me for a few weeks thanks to holiday commitments. 22:15 is the next target.

Does anybody know Caerphilly at all? I'm doing the Caerphilly 10k on Sunday and I have no idea what the elevation and course profile is like. I've tried going through the course on Google Maps but that's turning out to be a ball ache.

My usual tactic is to look up the previous years results and compare them to the PBs of the athletes on www.thepowerof10.info but it appears this is the first running of the Caerphilly 10k! Doh!

I've roughly mapped out the course using MapMyRun and it looks like there's some undulation to be expected. Mile 3 to 4.5 is a steady incline and a small comedy hill at the end to test us all.

Hopefully they get more things right than wrong for the first event.

Apologies if this has already covered....
But what is it about running & runners that attracts idiots, drunks, cocky teenagers, drive by abusers etc etc etc
I guarantee I get abused at least once a month while doing nothing more than running discreetly :-(

Do you have a favourite heckle put down or story of comeuppance ! :-)

I normally shout "come at me bro" hehe I got beeped at by two lovely looking lasses the other day whilst on a quiet country lane, I asked them if they were horny.

I recently had a drunk start running with me and ended up dropping him after a minute. 10 miles later, he was still there and started applauding me for still running!
