Robbie Williams's place on the market again - http://search.knightfrank.com/cho130283

£5m - Compton Bassett House.

I rather like that.
Isn't it slightly odd that a house that evidently has been "recently restored to an exempliary standard" is marketed with a brochure boasting only two internal images - each being of the same (relatively character-free) room? The outside looks nice enough, although I confess a little contrived to my eyes.

A little off topic perhaps, but I wonder how much time and enjoyment Mr Williams spent and received at the place. I wonder if these megabuck superstar purchases aren't a bit of a fantasy as I would have thought these young global travelling child-free party-goers would get more enjoyment and spend more time at a McMansion near Heathrow/Surrey or at a pied a terre in London.

Still, it's none of my business and I'm sure they know what they're doing. Some of the time.
That's just up the road from me. Its been on the market for ages and he's now going to take quite a hit assuming it sells.
Apparently he bought it for its proximity to Avebury and the Wiltshire crop circles as its something that he is/was interested in. I don't think he's been there very much. He has, on odd occasions, been to the local pub I believe. It's a nice village and Hairpin co are about 400m away so you could choose your flash car from your lounge almost.

Robbie bought a place in the North and never stayed a night. He ended up giving it to his parents. I went in after he sold it and it was the blandest house I have ever been in. I think he saw how the other band members had bought property and settled so thought he would give it a try. I spent a couple of months working at Garry Barlow's house at the height of Take That's fame. He lived in a house that he had totally renovated and built his recording studio in. He was able to live and work there and he stayed for years.

The house has been on the thread before. I'm not sure why we don't have more urinals in private houses in the UK - they make a lot of sense, especially in guest rooms or family bathrooms where there are lots of boys around.

I'm assuming that there is some kind of proximity switch for the lid in that particular example.

Yep. Much more water saving friendly. Not sure I'd want one in a 'proper' bathroom but would make sense in a secondary bathroom/toilet room near the living room or garden.

Not with this model. I think it slides to the side, but others lift. Much more common in Germany

Not really mate. You won't be able to rag your fancy pants car back home as that road has multiple speed cameras on it that catch a lot of locals out plus wetherby is st!

Found couple of other images from an older brochure.

Check this out

Now I hate to think how much the land costs, but the build cost on this is going to be silly. Check out the brochure for the plans
I can't even begin to comprehend how much they spent on heating over winter.
i imagine that being the setting for a either the happiest or unhappiest childhood for the owners offspring. It looks cold and lonely, but I guess lots of places for kids to explore... and potentially get trapped, drown or die in some other way.

that's an amazing place. SUrely £1M or so could craft you some kind of invisible nuclear mozzy barrier arsenal to envelope the property?

Love the draw bridge! Reminds me of the house on the island in Cornwall with the only private suspension bridge to a property.
