Adding Volvo to the field can only serve to enhance what is already a great racing spectacle.
So Oz has this, Germany has DTM, US has Nascar and we have the.....BTCC frown
Im sorry but how can you compare the BTCC to V8 supercars, DTM and Nascar?

The V8 supercars, DTM and Nascar are all Silhouette racing series so are basically all the same car and it comes down to drivers.

The BTCC is is much more exciting as the diverse models perform differently at the tracks. So you have SWB, LWB, FWD and RWD battling how much more exciting do you want the BTCC to be.

I watch DTM and Nascar and its alright but its only really exciting when there tyres start to go off. DTM in particular is pretty dull as they can't evan rub each other incase they damage the ridicolous amount aero they have festooned over the car.

I thought they were more a "modified", rather than stock cars.

Unfortunately it does not get the coverage to make it well known. I guess that's a matter of there only enough people to support one class in a big way.
Suspension and intake mainly. Plus lightening and roll cage. But I dont disagree. !

100% this. The btcc is as popular now than in the 90s. 40,000 spectators turned out at oulton park that as high as the 90s. You have 27 cars soon to be 29 battling out on track. 11 different manufactures represented with 13 different models and 4 champs on the grid. What more do you want?

What pisses me of with ph is that there is no articles about the btcc not even about media day not 1 article about it this year why the top racing series in the uk get better and better, more cars, drivers, teams every year yet doesn't even get a mention but when one manufacture is going to enter a series 12,000 miles away got to have an article and bash the btcc at the same time.

Come on ph support the btcc for once ffs.

So are they using the Volvo V8 or a US crate engine? I know the article says Polestar build it but I hightly doubt it will be their design from scratch.
Didn't Volvo offer a v8 option for the S80? Might be a modded variant of that.....

Or they're using one of the spec engines provided by the organizers

According to a report on Speedcafe.com, Volvo are going to resurrect their B8444S engine (currently 4.4 litres) and expand that out to a 5.0 V8 to meet the series requirements.
This can only be a good thing

Now lets see volvo shoe-horn that 5.0 into a production S60 smile
