'Four Feet' by Rudyard Kipling
I have done mostly what most do,
And pushed it out of my mind,
But I can't forget, if I wanted to,
Four feet trotting behind.
Day after day,the whole day through.
Wherever my road inclined,
Four feet said "I am coming with you!"
And trotted along behind.
Kipling wrote a load of lovely things about dogs. Byron's epitaph for Boatswain is another moving one.I have done mostly what most do,
And pushed it out of my mind,
But I can't forget, if I wanted to,
Four feet trotting behind.
Day after day,the whole day through.
Wherever my road inclined,
Four feet said "I am coming with you!"
And trotted along behind.

Two weeks ago tom, we said goodbye forever to our gorgeous Jimmy, I don't know why but tonight I just had to post a photo of him. I'm not coping at all well with our loss. I'm hoping this may help a bit. We were so so blessed to have him in our lives and we lost him far too soon

There are so many beautiful and happy photos on this thread, I'm sorry for bringing it down.
BexVN, I feel so sorry for your loss. Jimmy looked like an awesome dog

The Last Battle
If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this, the last battle, can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree,
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you,
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close,we two, these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.
Read this at work today, bloomin' dust was everywhere getting into my eyes!If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,

Thank you for that it brings my feelings for saying to Jack the scottie into words, still so raw
That poem was at the Pet crematorium after we said goodbye to our beloved Hogan http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=118... a few weeks ago.

This is how I am greeted home at the moment, Sasha our GSD and Coden, the sister in laws Husky Lurcher cross. Sash is a small gsd and Cody looks small here, but he is a BIG dog!

Please excuse all the boxes, we are part way through packing to emigrate, having to leave Sash here which is gutting as we were going to take her with us, but after a recent vet's trip, she isn't up to it and it wouldn't be fair on her.....
She goes from being all soft and quiet when on her own to being an 8 year old pup when Cody is around!

Aww, are you keeping Bo?
(Thank you everyone for the poems and kind words)
No Bo is sold to a family that own the only dog friendly pub I can find in Hull. I sparked their interest in dogs when I first took Poppy to their pub 3 years ago. I'm delighted that theyre having one as I can visit regularly (perfect excuse for a sneaky drink too).(Thank you everyone for the poems and kind words)
I'm keeping 'Freya, will post a picture of her when She stays still long enough for me to snap her.
