Just read this little tip to see how / if any of your chilli powder has been adulterated.
Fill a clear glass with water. When the surface is still, sprinkle a bit of the powder on the top. Chilli fragments will slowly descend through the water; artificial colouring will leave streaks as it sinks; bulking agents will float or turn the water cloudy.

I like spicy food but have never tried any really hot sauces such as those on this thread. But I think now the time has come to do so.
So how do they compare with Nando's Extra Extra Hot Sauce, the only 'hot' one I have tried?
I fully expect to be derided as a complete wimp for even using this

Everyone has to start somewhere! I was absolutely terrible at eating properly hot stuff at first - the first time I ate a spoonful of naga sauce on an empty stomach (the bSo how do they compare with Nando's Extra Extra Hot Sauce, the only 'hot' one I have tried?

ds told me it was sweet chilli jam!) I was sick about 5 minutes later. Then I started putting naga, habanero etc sauces on my sarnies every day and now I really enjoy the flavour, once I learned to deal with the heat. For a scale of reference, Nando's hottest sauce is nothing next to much of the content of this thread. The stuff I've got in my cupboard at the moment, such as Blair's After Death, Dave's Insanity, some naga / bhut jolokia sauces, are way, way hotter than anything you'll find in Nandos, or any restaurant I've found yet.
The key is to go in slowly - I've wrecked meals before by putting too much super hot sauce in and making it nigh inedible. You only need a tiny bit in / on your food to get some serious heat going, and you'll note when you try them, that the burn from these sauces lasts a lot longer than what you will have previously tried. Some of them do give your mouth and lips a pleasant tingly feeling afterwards though.
I developed a bit of an "issue" with Nando's EEH sauce. I used to like it with chips (was a staple for lunch in the office. I realised things were getting a little bad when I used a whole bottle on just a quarter of my portion of crisps. Gave up the crisps and just had EEH sandwiches instead ;-)
just topping up on chilli suace and saw this job lot for sale on ebay. it's collect only, and the other end of the country, but probably worth a punt for southerners;)

Have any of you tried the "Hooters 911 hot sauce"? The menu bills it as their hottest option out of 5 or so available and when ordered 2 (tightly dressed) waitresses double checked I really wanted it but on arrival it was fairly mild. Is it normally tame in a bid to test the "normal" people out there or did I get a duff batch?
As an aside it was my first visit to such an establishment (Prague, stag thing) and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food on offer.
