From the skin inwards is my jurisdiction, is it not? I choose what may or may not cross that border. Here I am the customs agent. I am the coastguard. I am the sole legal and spiritual government of this territory, and only the laws I choose to enact within myself are applicable”

That's fine for the kids enjoying a self-funded E, spliff, line etc. that doesn't affect their ability to function as a 'person'. It's the junkies and the associated crime sprees just to fund a habit that is the downside.Alexander Shulgin

There's a massive difference between popping an E or doing a line on a weekend and being a Heroin addict.
There is, in principle. I agree. However, around 2000 I hung around with a group of well financed, all-professionals in their late 20's, early 30's who would go clubbing at weekends, popping E and doing lines of various. Over the course of about 8 to 12 months I watched the group members go downhill personaly and professionally, with relationships breaking up, volumes of narcotics increasing quite markedly and work suffering - badly. Some of them would eventually do 4 - 6 E's on a night then move on to other stuff at the after-parties. The end-point for me was sitting beside a girl in a bar one lunchtime who didn't realise she was urinating herself mid conversation.
None of them were 'Junkies', but increasing volumes of narcotics had a marked change on a number of their lives.
Was a very, very interesting time!
I've no real issue with folks/kids doing a 'bit' at the weekends, but if it takes over then it really has some serious effects!
No different to alcohol I'd say all this. A lot of us 'do a bit' at weekends, for some it's an addiction and naughty kids have and always will drink too much at some point. The solution therefore would be to ban everything?
Personally I'm all for legal, regulated and TAXABLE versions of narcotics and can't stand the 'shock/horror' brigade who can't stop and think about it a bit more logically even for a second.
