Thinking longer term, if you want to lose the gut, you have to combine aerobic exercise (running, cycling, rowing etc) with a sport that works your core (boxing, squash etc). Amazing how much difference that will make to your stomach muscles, helping pull everything in.

I'm currently on a diet I found on FB! I lost 7lbs in 2 weeks. I've lost a stone in total (5 weeks in). Not sure how sustainable it is in the long run as I'm not excercising but in terms of losing a few pounds quickly, it's worked for me.

Here's a couple of typical days in the life...

Breakfast: 2 x grilled bacon and poached egg
Snack: fat free yoghurt
Lunch: Half chicken (skin removed)
Snack: Whey shake with skimmed milk
Dinner: steak with onions and peppers (with your choice of herbs/spices)
Snack: fat free yoghurt
Drinks: water and a coffee with skimmed milk

Breakfast: Omlette
Snack: fat free yoghurt
Lunch: tuna salad with vinegar
Snack: Whey shake with skimmed milk
Dinner: Maggies so juicy Mexican chicken (oven cooked in a bag)
Snack: fat free yoghurt
Drinks: water and a coffee with skimmed milk

I'm sure the real dietitians out there wil pick faults but as a quick way to lose a few pounds, it works. I'm on holiday next week so wanted to slim down a bit.

Basically, cut down the carbs and my old nemesis, sugar and alcohol!

Pretty much.

And don't bother with the shake - you're wasting money. It'd be like me putting on an Austrian accent because I want to build muscle.

Yeah it's not for the muscle as I'm not doing any gym work, more just to have as a snack to get more protien in me rather than having a biscuit or chocolate bar.

A few years ago I cut out bread completely and alcohol during the weeks and became more committed to the gym, I lost almost a stone in a month, it's back on now though!

Don't see the point. What's the protein and calories in the shake doing?

Whatever you do, don't take pre-workout if you're not going to the gym.
