Sky have lost their edge in my opinion. Hopefully meaning Froome won't win again.

I doubt Renshaw has it for a sprint against the big boys, they will also focus on a good result on stage 5 and then supporting Kwiatowski for the white jersey.

Renshaw has a bit of pedigree as a sprinter. He left Cav and Columbia High Road for Rabo so he could have a crack as a sprinter in his own right. Obviously he's not quite up there with to top few. Undoubtedley the best lead out man in the world though.
I know Renshaw's history, but he did nothing at Rabobank when sprinting for himself and now he's a couple of years older. For me, he's a top ten guy or a winner from a small group, but not quick enough anymore to take a mass Tour sprint. I like the bloke though, so hope he proves me wrong!

Well that isn't it for me anyway, I imagine BW can look after himself, and in any case is clearly no angel in these matters. I don't hate Froome, but I find he is lacking in charisma, or any kind of reason for me to get behind him. The same reason why Jimmy White had more fans than Davis or Hendry, the same reason that people prefered Senna to Prost or Ovett to Coe
Dull mechanicals alwasy fare worse in a sporting personality contest to the "maverick" type.
Plus of course BW had a long history of winning stuff for Team GB, whereas Froome has a long history of being the citizen of another country.
Finally I give you Froome's worst crime against popularity. (From the statue book of not the nine o'clock news, circa 1985 subsection B)

Indeed, we went to spectate on 'Cote de Oxenhope' and is was amazing. I donned my Pistonheads cycling jersey and bumped into a fellow PH'r [itsallgonepetetong] and had a great time. The level of enthusiasm was on a scale I had never seen before. I had prev. spectated on the tour on the London/kent leg and it was good but nothing like the stage in Yorkshire.
It's given me a 'taste' of what an alpine stage might be like - I certainly want more of it
I cant believe the crowds. I know the Yorkshire stages had the benefit of the weekend but just watching it go through Saffron Walden people are stuffed in to the rafters... on a Monday! Massively impressed with the support from the public.
It passes within 21 miles of me and would love to see it. Thought about shoving the bike in the back of the car and see how close I could get but without planning where to view and short of time, would most probably miss it altogether. Oh well, never mind, I have longer term plans to see it France one day.

I did the cycling festival sportif yesterday out of Saffron Walden, 50 ish miles taking in some of the tour stage. Lots of lovely new smooth tarmac on the roads & flags, bunting, yellow bikes etc. all over the place, virtually every village we went through on the route was getting something ready (bbq, beer festival, fete etc.) for today's stage, even in the constant piddling rain of yesterday morning there were quite a few out watching us nobodies cycle about. Looking forward to watching it this evening, least the pro's won't have t
