I am on a roll this weekend and the missus is questioning not only my taste but my sanity
R.I.P.D. (just out on Sky Movies)
Cops, big guns, sci-fi and monsters, Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges - on the face of it promising
oh boy
Tries so bad to be MIB and fails miserably, copies the most of the plot of MIB 1, copies the lead characters, and the "monsters" are all like the possessed hick from MIB 1
but none of MIB's wit, imagination or charm
2/10
couldn't agree with you more, IMO it had all the right ingredients (though I had problems understand WTF Jeff B was trying to say), some lovely visuals, a couple of neat lines in humour and yet I'd rather go to the dentist than watch it again R.I.P.D. (just out on Sky Movies)

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Fantastic CGI but predicable story line. No dramatic plot twists and did not engage with any characters so could not care what happened to them.
I may go against the grain here, but I do not like the Planet of the Apes movies so much, I find them quite depressing. It seems Hollywood relishes in the kind of movie that depicts mother nature and all other species as good, and humans irredeemably bad - so bad that we're expected to cheer as CGI effects wipe us out.... Fantastic CGI but predicable story line. No dramatic plot twists and did not engage with any characters so could not care what happened to them.
Do not interest me at all.

Yes. Do you have an aversion to anything with a downbeat ending?
No - I just don't like the Planet of the Apes movies too much. I am sorry if this opinion offends you. chris watton said:

I watched The Good Shepherd last night. De Niro took a great cast and a potentially interesting story and turned it into a long, tedious mess.
The worst thing about this movie was the relentless, intrusive background music, which meant that I was straining to hear the dialogue much of the time.

After watching 2 Headed Shark Attack the other night, I'm on the hunt for Asylum/SyFy and similar crappy b movies. I've got Jurassic Shark saved on Blinkbox, it was 99p to buy it (that offer might still be on), the others on there are £2.50 rentals, and I'm not paying that much for them .
No I don't have Sky.
