Has anyone seen this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbS5kkbn9GM
It's an Argentinian Adidas store that an old fella had owned from 1980, and full of stock from those days! Ian Brown of the Stone Roses was one of the Adidas fans who went over to rake through the stock...
I saw the article somewhere (newspaper?), photos caught my eye. It's an Argentinian Adidas store that an old fella had owned from 1980, and full of stock from those days! Ian Brown of the Stone Roses was one of the Adidas fans who went over to rake through the stock...
If want to see really expensive Nike Trainers look at the Air Yeezy which Kanye West had an input on.

No different to blokes spunking ££££ on watches IMO.
I'm a watch person and agree to a point.However...you can wear a quality watch brand every day for a 5 years and it will still have a value to it - same can't be said for trainers.

FFS, I just looked at Flebay, people are asking 250 for them?? For a trainers?? I must have lost contact with today world If I have to pay more than 40 I struggle
NOW...if we are talking about a nice shoes, Bally etc I've been known to pay as much as 250 per, but this is a whole different world.
I've never paid more than around £30 for shoes but trainers I'm happy to pay upwards of £100NOW...if we are talking about a nice shoes, Bally etc I've been known to pay as much as 250 per, but this is a whole different world.
I'd guess age may come into this
Re the comments about these trainers being worn - a lot of sneaker collectors will buy these and never wear them, they literally just collect.
I've managed to get my sneaker addiction under control but my present collection is around 120 pairs of sneakers. To date I've worn 4 of them and use daily. Value wise there is method in the madness, some of my pairs would sell for several hundred ££ but I paid far less.
Nuts I know but everyone has their vices (some more than others)

I know, I know... the age maybe have something to do with it. I suppose the same way I am happy to fork out 200 for a pair of good shoes. Same thing just different point of view.

It's a cheap investment I guess. Just like if I ever sold my unbuilt model kits they are worth a lot more now than when they were new. I thought my collection was a lot at 25 unworn, boxed, tagged pairs.I've managed to get my sneaker addiction under control but my present collection is around 120 pairs of sneakers. I'm fairly normal then, oh and I make a point of never buying from the bay as it is fake aplenty on there.
Yes some will be genuine limited editions but the majority are rattled out by the hundreds in China somewhere.

Those Nike Huaraches that everyone is getting an erection about are going for 100 quid a pop and are the most disgusting looking trainers I've ever seen. They all seem to be worn by people who put videos of themself on Facebook doing some ridiculous dance.
I've got 3 pairs of limited edition huaraches, bought for 85 each now selling on ebay for 140-160.Not to everyones taste but a more comfortable trainer you will not find.

Yes agreed, lots of crap on eBay. I've purchased a few things through it but only from sellers I already know and trust. Tbh some of my best purchases have been made when going into random sneaker stores around Europe and also I tend to go to places and ask if they have any single pairs of a style left, ideally in my size obviously. Picked up some absolute steals over the years by doing this as they'll often let the last pair go at a good discount.I'm fairly normal then, oh and I make a point of never buying from the bay as it is fake aplenty on there.

I've got an old Tamiya kit of a Yamaha R1. I'll never build it and eBay suggests it's worth the same as it was when I bought it.

That's probably because I can walk into a model shop tomorrow and buy the R1 kit. Likewise my 1/12 mclaren M23 kit is a rerelease so the cost of the original has gone down. LINK

They get a lot of bashing but the world would be boring if everyone worn the same pair of trainers
There will always be people who pay lots for something for a variety of not always sensible reasons.
However, better paying for something slightly interesting/rare than paying anything up to £150 or more for some slightly nicer Adidas trainers (because they say Y-3 on them somewhere) or worse still, similar money on some pumps because they have a label like Boss or similar. There lies real madness.

I doubt age has much to do with it. I didn't own a pair of trainers for quite a few years after leaving school but I drank with a man who was in his late 60s and wore trainers for everything. He was a lot fitter than me too.I'd guess age may come into this
