Just so that I can stay 'onside' can somebody tell me at what size your TV officially becomes "a bit council".

42"?

50"?

60"?
42", surely? That's all they can afford... hehe
You are joking - there was a "Life on Benefits" type programme on earlier this week & the telly in the living room was fking massive - had to be way above 60". Brand new Zafira parked outside courtesy of the Ooh I've got a Bad Back can I have a free car Motability Scheme.
Depends on a make - probably a cheap one. wink

It's not the size of the telly(is that council calling it a telly?) per say, it's the relationship between the size of the screen and the size of the room.

Cash Converters (been mentioned?)
yes

Thread sponsor.
I went in one in Stockport, the place was full of complete st and it was all overpriced to be well within a few quid of the latest new version, there was some complete scratter getting all excited about a massive Stereo system with many flashing lights and huge speakers "that's what I am fkin talking about, fkin get in, Im fkin having that", all delivered in that peculiar accent that is a white man trying to sound like a Snoop Dogg or similar and failing miserably which, to be fair is also a bit of a council affectation, he even did the pimp limp and was displaying his underpants, bless, both also very council things to do.

Exactly. It's the distance between the screen and the wall the screen is facing.

42" - 4.2m

50" - 5.0m

60" - 6.0m

We have a 32" TV in the corner of a room that is ~6m long, although we watch from the sofa which is ~4m away. Are we inverse "council"?

Or just a cheap skate? biggrin

In my defence I was off to the driving range and it's freezing cold this morning.

Whenever I hear per se, all I can think about is that episode of South Park taking the piss out of goths:
