From the Nevada Oracle - 17th December 2008

32 year old father of two and serial speeder Mark Lochiusky fo Wellington Falls,Nevada State, faces the Electric Chair after being caught exceeding the speed limit on two separate ocassions within a 3 month period.
Mr Lochiusky, has two previous convictions dating from 1993 and also 1997. In both the two previous convictions he was driving the same 1972 Ford Mustang, at speeds of "up to 44 mph" over the current 55mph speed limit, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.
His Lawyer Joseph Zincman of Zinkman Associates, Nevada, said in a statement.

"In 15 years of driving, my client has never caused or been found to have been responsible for any accident to any other vehicle, person or property. In an age where convictions for 'burglary with manslaughter' extend to little more than rehabilitation - often on an exotic islands, isn't it time that the offence of speeding was put into perspective.
Further my client was tracked by a GPS device that will ultimately, clear all us drivers off the road.
The point is that he didn't kill or affect anyone. Maybe if he had, he would be better off"

In response Officer Louise Marendez IV, Nevada Highway Patrol, said:

" It our social duty to rid the roads of these potential murderers. People need to see the bigger picture"

Officer marendez declined to comment when asked "at what speed the Police vehicle was travelling at, prior to overtaking Mr Lochiusky"

Mr Lochiusky's family are said to be devastated by the news and his wife said, through a statement read by a family friend:
"How did this happen and why didn't anybody protest or do anything about back in 2005/6 when they (the laws)came into force"

The news follows last months conviction and subsequent execution of 26 year old New Jersey driver, Steven Psion, who tragically mowed down 3 pedestrians and admitted to 'Driving whilst looking only at the vehicle speedometer'

Perhaps we should send all out morons to Navada then. You can gamble 247 you can shag 13 year old girls but speeding is punishable by death. Utopia for wits. QED lets put Palin, Begg, Brunstrom at al on the next plane.

F**k, f**k, f**k, f**k;

Do you know the awful thing though, I was actually not that surprised; how prophetic do you think this could be?

The only place I have ever received a speeding ticket is in Carson City Nevada - 70mph in a 55mph limit coming down the mountain from Lake Tahoe. They certainly don't mess around out there (compared to getting away with 95+ in a 55 in Louisiana ).

Nice one crbox, I didn't spot the date either.
Still, if the: "wrap everyone up in cotton wool brigade" get their way, You never know!

I once crossed the desert to Barstow, full throttle following a Porsche. Trouble was the car speedometer didn't go above 90 mph, when I slowed down it stayed there. Spent the night wondering how I was going to explain it to the Hire company. Luckily it dropped back, the following day.

Not sure what's funnier. The article, or that it's actually half believeable.

The only place I have ever received a speeding ticket is in Kingman, Arizona. He cited me for 90 mph in a 55, although I was actually doing at least 120 when I passed him (he was hiding behind a bridge abutment). Cost me $100; it was almost worth it for the Terminator 2 style "have you seen this boy" experience as he walked up to the car - mirror sunglasses, gun, everything. Of course, I spent the next 2 hours driving at 55mph and being passed by *everything*.

I got stopped near Bakersfield, California, a few years ago when the blanket 55 was in force. I was driving a T'bird at about 85 towards SF. The CHiPs guy appeared from no-where and told me I was "running better than 80". I explained that I'd slowed down from my normal European cruising speed. He asked what my Euro cruise speed was. I said "about 120". He said, "that's kilometers, right?". I said, "no, miles per hour". He said "you mean you drive one hundred twenty mph on a public highway?". I said "yes, unless I'm in a hurry, then I drive up to 150". He said, "Hell, what sort of a car do you have?" I said, "Oh, a Porsche Carrera RST". He said, "I guess they do go that fast".
He then apologised for having to ask me to drive at 55 and that I would probably be OK at around 60 and told me to have a nice day.
A really nice guy! Didn't ticket me either.
