'Mini smashes concorde quarter mile record'

I'm waiting for the first ticket accusing someone of traveling at Warp 9 in a 30 limit.

BUT THEY STILL SENT IT OUT!!!!!

Some official must have SEEN the speed on the ticket before it was sent to the guy, but they still SENT it!

Probably hoping that the man would just roll over and take it.

If one can get put in jail for 150MPH, what would be the punishement for 2100MPH?!!

Particularly amusing that they thought it necessary to point out that it was "clear the man's car couldn't have been travelling at three times the speed of sound."

Glad they cleared that up - I wasn't certain myself...

On a related(ish) note, I have a quick question on how the radar works.
If I was travelling at 60mph in a pick up truck the radar would read 60mph, that's fine.
What if I stood on the back of the pick up and waved my arm forward at 10mph - if the radar was pointed at my arm would it pick up I was travelling at 70mph? If it did, would a badly screwed on numberplate vibrating wildly mess the reading up?

Hang on - didn't they always say that there was a theoretical top speed beyond which a Gatso can't catch you (order of 160 mph or something) because you just go by too quickly? Speed trap must have been really sh*gged if it was willing to print out a ticket for a speed waaaaaay beyond its capabilities of measurement. Best put it out of its misery I reckon (and not replace it)!

Wasn't it Jeremy Clarkson who drove by a Gatso in various cars at various speeds? Think it took a TVR at something like 170 or 180 before he got by without a flash. (Sorry, tried to find the link but couldn't right now)
