Ambulance delivering organs gets done - again.

The Thames Valley lot, like all the others, are just completely and totally obsessed with points and fines for small minor offences.
My niece is currently awaiting her second liver transplant and to persecute those doing their best to really help with saving lives is nothing short of a bloody disgrace. Thames Valley Scammers - nasty spiteful little people doing non-jobs.

There is a celebrated in car video of a Police driver rushing an organ
(heart i belive ) to a hospital in London some time in the 80´s driving at great speed , i saw it on some TV prog and the driver was praised for doing a great job i wonder how this would be seen today
It would still be the same today......however, that was the first one but there have been plenty since.
In fact ive done a couple, one in particular i picked up at the bottom of the M1 and rushed it to a central London Hosp.
It was very strange when i was driving to look in my rear view mirror to see this box on the back seat and next to it was my Lunch box...very surreal.
However, when i got to the Hosp it all became apparent, as soon as i stopped, the rear doors opened and the 'cargo' was whisked away.
Later, chatting to the Doctor, if we had been 5 mins later the person would have died.
I had a break after that and if i smoked, i would have lit up a gigantic cigar.

really angers me stories like this one.
It would anger me if, after proving he was on an emergency journey, he was still prosecuted.
However he didn't have his warning devices on (according to the article) so he will need CAD or other evidence that he was using the vehicle for ambulance purposes and therefore able to claim an exemption from the offence.
Just as a by-the-way - private ambulance companies are not required to train their drivers as emergency/response drivers; is anyone else uncomfortable with the fact that anyone can start work for these places and get given a set of Bs&Ts to use from day 1?

Yes iam,and ive had experiences with them in the past.
(i think you're referrng to my post)
Me too - in the Red Cross we have to complete MiDAS first and drive non-emergency for a year without incident before we can apply for response; then we do a 72-hour course of instruction on emergency driving, including night drives and speed runs, which is annually re-assessed by NHS ambulance instructors, and people who don't come up to scratch are binned from blue light driving.
Scares the brown stuff out of me when I see some of these private companies haring about with the full disco on...
Its also surprising how many are using lights etc when they dont need it and its not an emaer call of any description.
