Out of interest at what point do you measure the junction? The centre of the road? Where the road starts to curve?

You can see here where the Fiesta has been driven forward onto fresh snow, just to butt right up against it.

The fiesta has just been moved, they didn't answer the door to the police.
"I felt there was enough space to eventually get myself out without touching either car. As I switched on the engine, I had forgotten that I left my car in gear. It stalled and lurched forward. In my panic I tried to reverse back to my starting position by my foot slipped and the accelerator was pressed more than I had intended."

Doesn't it have to be so many metres from a junction too? (Excuse my vagueness)
Opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space.

Lifted from the highway code. Amazing how many drivers dont seem to know this, at least round my way.

Which stops people from parking outside the OPs house - although, as you say, people ingore that in our village too. Makes it very dodgy turning out of some of the roads.
There's one very good reason for it, that most people don't realise... mainly on tight estate roads - the tail sweep of a turning bus - say one is turning sharp right, the back end will kick left about 2-3ft before following the rest of the bus round the corner.

I see what you mean Muncher - not being helpful are they - they probably don't want it to become a permanent feature

are people being serious?
why shouldn't he park there?
It's a road. Roads are for getting from A to B. Car parks are for parking cars?

If everyone used the roads for parking, in the end we wouldn't be able to drive anywhere. In the dim and distant past we wouldn't think of parking in the road as everyone looked after their piece of road swept the pavements etc so it was tidy for everyone else

How many cars do we need per house?

Not helping OP predicament - the door bell has to be favourite

WHAT THE fk ARE YOU SMOKING?

Maybe where you live you all have double garages and a mile long drive but here in the normal world not everyone has a drive or a garage and the road is the only place to park.

Pathetic, small minded people like the OP's neighbours really are the pits.

Last week a little old lady knocked on our door and gave me a bottle of wine. Resisting my initial instinct to slam the door before she either changed her mind or tried to introduce me to Jesus I asked why. It transpires that she's a dinner lady at the school opposite and parks her battered Micra on the road every day (I sort of semi recalled it) and we're the only people in the street who have not left a note on her windscreen asking her not to park there!

What a pack of s.

Once the weather improves I may just wash her car for her while she's dishing out bangers and mash biggrin

One place I used to live had a weapons grade cockend who'd use the untaxed cars on his drive to block in anyone parking outside his house. He gave up after doing it to me. I'd asked him to move them politely but he said no, so as at the time I owned a 4x4 with winch bumpers etc I just drove off anyway. Obviously I had to shuffle backwards & forwards several times to get out the space, but as both of his cars were untaxed I'd have loved to see him claim over it. Oddly I never heard a thing about it.

It might have also been known once to drag a car that keep parking across a neighbours drive & leave it in the middle of the crossroads at the end of the street before reporting an abandoned car, oddly that stopped happening too.
I've had similar issues with people, and solved them in a similar manner. The only thing that really irritated me was when some fker keyed it. Just simply because it took me a fortnight to notice amongst the other scratches from 'laning and I did wonder what they'd hoped to achieve!

I had a bit of an issue a few years ago. I lived in a small development with open plan gardens - eg no fences. My lawn, which I was pretty careful with went right up to the kerb. The guy over the road decided to plant little prickly bushes next to his bit of kerbing to delineate his garden.

The problem (to me anyway) was that he was an elder of the local Mormon chapter and was always having bible punching meetings. As no one could park outside his house, they would line up and park outside mine. No problem really except the space cadets would park outside my house and unload passenegers who would then proceed to mill about my front garden on a mission from God.

Amazingley, sometimes they would park up with 2 wheeels on my lawn as though it was a pavement and look really baffled when I asked if it would be ok for me to have a drive round their lawns sometime?

Retards.

Before you say it, these properties do need multiple cars - the bus service is not good enough for anyone who works vaguely normal hours, plus nearest bus stop is around a mile from the road in question.
If people didn't have cars then the bus service would expand to take up the demand.
Funniest post I've seen this year!

The large town at the end of the bus route doesn't even have a bus station any more... It was rebuilt into a (failed) arts facility and they still haven't decided where to put the new one..
Which town is that?

Chester (we live about 6 miles outside it) doesn't have a bus station anymore ether, but there are still plenty (many people think too many) buses.
Colchester - this is the reason the bus station went.

I mentioned the bus station as an example of how high(!) value the local authorities place on providing a decent transport system.
They are not alone - This

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Public,_West_Brom...

Is what West Brom got on their old Bus Station

(at least they got a replacement)

The building site where I have been working for the last few weeks is in a small village with hardly any parking, the site does not have room for more than a couple of vans. So I asked one of the neighbours if parking close to the entrance to their drive would be a problem, he said it would as there was double yellow lines & even though I would have been on the verge behind them I might still get a ticket. I said "OK thanks , I'll find somewhere else" he said "park on my drive if you like" I have just left them a nice box of chocolates as a thank you, it's quite refreshing to find people that want to make your life easier & less stressful!

Ebay!!!!

Find an old hippy bus/camper van type thing, tax and insure it for a year and park it in 'the space' biggrin

For added effect install a additional battery pack and timer switches to turn internal lights on and off at regular intervals - maybe even a TV wink

I know someone who did this to some similar such neighbours with hilarious results! Even as far as adding a satellite dish to the roof in the middle of the night hehe they were planning on installing a chimney and a coal burner for added effect but never got round to it

Im in for a tenner via Paypal gift
Especially if you post updates on a regular basis

If its taxed and insured the BiB wont take any interest at all assuming you park it legally ie where the Clio is in your pic

Cheers

Better still find something taxed and insured that looks awful
200 quid or so should get you something lovely

Then park it where the Clio is with CCTV covering it from your bedroom window with the appropriate (microscopic) signage

Im guessing they would find it hard to resist

But then Im probably more evil than you
