LJ02 WHC - Crashed into me and drove off
Discussion

Hate to stereotype but a growing minority of people come here and don't abide by our rules or regulations.
Set up an ANPR van in Thornton Heath/New Cross and the police would be pulling every other car without fail!
Observation is saying your van was hit by 2 cars driven by Africans, but not by any cars driven by indigenous drivers, which supports your opinion that indigenous drivers more careful than African drivers.Set up an ANPR van in Thornton Heath/New Cross and the police would be pulling every other car without fail!

Racism would be saying all African's ignore our traffic rules (and should therefore face more severe enforcement, or not be allowed to drive cars etc).
I think indigenous Britain's are just as capable of not abiding by rules as well, and just because someone is "a bit" dark, doesn't necessarily mean they can be pigeon holed into any one group.
What should happen is a review of collision reports be carried out, which is cross referenced to specific areas, then a decision made whether any particular areas needs more or less traffic enforcement, signage or layout improvements etc.
To avoid the racism card, a review should be based on evidence, rather than anyone's opinion that an area is full of immigrants, and we all know they break the law don't we, so lets crack down on them.
Perhaps not what everyone wants to hear, but them's the rules we've made for our country.
We saw what happened last year when the Boarders Agency picked a couple of London train stations to blitz immigration status. It was proved to be inconsistent with equalities laws, and was stopped ASAP.
However, lack of APRR checks is probably resources as much as anything - I see them twice a month on the A23 into Croydon from the south.

I'm an immigrant and I don't agree with the way we pussy foot around with foreigners. In my opinion it should be one strike and out. As in, you either abide by the rules of the country that's gracious enough to take you in or get shipped out. Permanently. Racism would be saying all African's ignore our traffic rules (and should therefore face more severe enforcement, or not be allowed to drive cars etc).

I'm African, have been here since I was 5 and the legacy of New Labour is a country that is now scared to apply the law fairly.
Incidentally my dad got hit in Cornwall recently by an old lady on a country road. She failed to stop. My dad followed her and got her to stop while he phoned the police. They had strong words for him when they arrived, as they said she ran because she was terrified of him, an aggressive male and that they wouldn't prosecute her for failing to stop.
It seems to be one rule for men, one rule for women and no sense to it at all.

That is a complete disgrace, but my views on the police are well known.I'm African, have been here since I was 5 and the legacy of New Labour is a country that is now scared to apply the law fairly.

I always find this interesting when people complain about racism.

Presumably you will include this thread in your disclosure.
I told the woman who took my statement yesterday that I'd be posting the reg online, and she said that although they obviously couldn't recommend me doing so, there was nothing to stop me. Would you not do the same?Geekman said:

Posting the reg LJ02 WHC will make it more likely you will be found out if you don't include this thread in your disclosure, but of course you'll be including it, won't you?
I am completely and utterly confused I'm afraid - what exactly do you mean by "disclosure"? In any conversation I have had with regards to this accident, be it insurance, police or whatever, I have mentioned that I was posting the reg online, just as I did at the police station yesterday. Why wouldn't I? I haven't done anything wrong, I'm perfectly within my rights to post the reg. If you're trying to make a point, you need to be much clearer: not all of us are crash investigation experts :P

So, as far as I can make out, if the case goes to court, I will need to submit a copy of this thread. If that's the case then I have no problem doing so: this thread is pretty much an exact replication of my witness statement.A car hit mine whilst I was stopped, taking off my drivers side mirror, the car drove off but I noted the reg number, no witnesses.
I called the police, they went round to the address and spoke to the driver who admitted what he had done, later I received a cheque from his insurance company for £415.
From reading this and other threads I realise I was very lucky indeed, top marks to Lincs Constabulary on this occasion.
