It has been answered and I think you are mistaken on both counts.
Just seemed weird that there wasn’t a single comment until the 1st May, despite it being posted 9 weeks earlier on 23rd Feb.
It was originally posted in the South Wales bit of the forum, a relatively sleepy little backwater of PH.

Fair enough, didn’t know that.

OP, I’m interested to know why you didn’t stop. Genuine question.

The reason why most people don’t stop, he thought he’d got away with it

I've assumed in the past that there's a certain amount of "well it's only a wing mirror, and I don't care about cars so why should anyone else?" attitude. Whilst totally oblivious to the fact that they could well have done £2k of damage to someone's property.
Mrs D had a mirror knocked off such that panel repairs and painting were necessary due to twisting and creasing of the door skin, so it wasn't even just an "unbolt remains, fit new item" repair.
These are going to be the same people who bring their awful, badly-raised children to your house, who then damage something they really shouldn't have touched, then the parents try to make it your fault despite all the other children who have ever been round your house managing to not load ham into your Blu-ray player or cook your phone in the toaster etc.

Then it’s either brave or extremely foolish for the OP to post his question on a forum populated by car enthusiasts. I can sometimes empathise when I read about a driver panicking after an accident and driving away. The brain does strange things in times of crisis - the classic fight of flight response. But after calming down I think most people would experience remorse and own up to what they’ve done. Someone on a car forum would/should realise door mirrors can cost a fortune these days.
