Bradord? Would they be West Yorks Police?

The ones who knocked on some blokes door ca. October 2003 on Friday evening whilst he was watching episode of "Corrie" und pointed at his old J reg Cavalier parked in designated parking bay belonging to his house und designed for residents only...thus a "drive" of sorts. The car had been MOT'd earlier in day - but his screen wash was low und he had a faulty spark lead apparently - so they gave him Fixed Penalty for "dangerous parts" - which was cancelled after the press and GMTV got involved... guy got a reprimand instead..

But in any case ... you check tyres as matter of course each time you get in car - cost nothing to have visual feel or check with own gauge pump. Spare ist also checked in case. I check tyre pressure each day as you never know if you have gone over nail or something these days and tyre tread at regular intervals. Also prowl around to check lights und carry spare bulbs as well. Ist ritual ....almost

So 3 point for the no seatbelt and nothing for the flat tyre?

If so, that is a pretty good result, as it could/should have been six.

How did it go in court? What points were put forward for/against?

It's a wonder that they didn't send you to prison with the 75 yr old pensioner lady!...

Years ago, I had a MK5 Cortina, (60% profile tyres, and gas struts) driving the 15 motorway miles to work one morning, On entering the site, I was flagged down by one of the motor mechanics who said: "Your back tyres flat".

Eh?.....I said, What?, but there it was......flat, and I never felt it.

Reckon your "flatfoot" was extracting the urine old chap, maybe from some other time (they have memories y'know)......God "Bless" 'em.

Did I tell you that I've got one next door? ....Right Pielark!

My condolences........

Crikey, I didn't know you could get points for under inflated tyres.

No, and I didn't know you could get 3 points if they were "visibly low". Gits.

You can get 3 points per tyre - for under-inflated, below minimum tread, etc...

Thats a bit of a sod... especially if you get all your tyres changed at the same time!

BTW(2) - 9psi is low. Most vehicles with a single tyre so under-inflated would demonstrate it by poor handling even at lowish speeds. You say it was the driver's side rear - I'm surprised you didn't notice it yourself when entering the vehicle ... it was surely obvious.

Only had one flat, driving my Granada from Aberdeen to Carlisle, stopped for a cuppa in a motorway service station on the M74, came out, checked all wheels, as you do, and noticed a flat back offside, hadnt noticed any handling problems when I drove in, could have gone down whilst I was in there I suppose?
