No. It would be cheaper to employ you as the bus driver!

Read something the other day in a national newspaper about a bus company instructing the driver of a bus delayed leaving the depot not to stop for any passengers so as to arrive at the distant terminus on time!

This week, walking through Hebden Bridge, I noticed a bus parked at the town centre stop, engine running, the driver sat reading the Sun, in no hurry to go anywhere anytime soon.

The bus was full of passengers. The location of this bus stop is such that a bus parked there reduces the main A646, the only road through the Calder valley, to a single car width for both directions. The resulting traffic queue was about 200 yards in each direction.

The local concillor has been reported as saying the road needs traffic calming

Where the hell do they get these people from? We know what caused the accident so why come up with an unconnected solution to a problem that doesnt exist.

They look for any excuse.

Some of the grumpy old sods at work were saying you could get a double to lean up to 35 degrees (with no passengers on) before it would tip. Hmmmm I wonder

I believe that true, I can certainly remeber seeing pictures of them being tested to extreme angles.

They stopped double deckers driving up a hill near me because the junction has a horrible adverse camber. It's quite uncomfortable in a car but I can remeber watching DD busses lifting their inside rear wheels for about 2-3 seconds and appeared to be teetering on the brink of falling over. Didn't hear of any that actually did though.

with ref to the original posting, in the paper tonight it says the offending tree and one other have been cut down by the council. The local councillor is moaning that in his 'survey' the speed of the buses was a concern. With the trees removed they be tempted to go faster.
The comment from the council itself was 'it is not the job of the council to comment on the speed bus drivers travel along this route but trees over the highway cannot be used as trafic calming measures'.

In a head on collision each and every passenger will be headbutting the seat in front, or in older busses getting a nice metal handrail in the face.
Except the ones in the front seats ... they'll be headbutting whatever the bus has crashed into - Streaky
