Penalty for 104mph on the M-Way - I'll tell you..
Discussion
I think it is usually the case that for 100+ that would mean an almost certain ban of some length. I think the 'exceptional hardship' mitigation means that instead of a short or medium ban a raised fine is given.
£650 aint bad though, if you consider what the impact of what may have been lost in the sense of lost income, or even a job.
But... still rediculous when all you have done is drive faster than an imposed limit. I think even with crimes with a real victim, with mitigating circumstances you may get less. And... you would get legal aid to pay for your solicitor...

I got £340 and 6 points for 103mph on the A3 a couple of months ago. I represented myself and laid heavy on mitigation and the inpact it would have on my life if license was lost etc. I considered that a result and even more so now seeing that you got fined more and had legal fees etc. I would always suggest if you're going guilty do some research write down all your mitigation and then ask the court permision if you read a pre prepared plea of mitigation as you undersatnd the severity of the offence and would like to ensure you include all points you wish to raise. That way you can work out what you want to say well in advance and it does away with any tendancy to forget something you wish to say due to pressure or nerves.
