I did enjoy the show but, like you all mention above, it is getting slightly tedious;

scrote drives away from police
police chase
helicopter follows
set up stinger
stinger kills tyres
object car drives slow
scrote legs it
helicopter tells police where scrote is

as interesting as it is (and more and more it's making me want to become a traffic officer :bib there is some repitition. However, this show probably does more to anti-car-crime than the punishments do!!

(PS: Did anybody else note the sickening irony. 21:59 last night BBC 1 "the man who dealt in stolen cars received a £200 fine". 22:00 on BBC 1 last night "don't pay your TV license, we'll find you oh yes we will, and £1000 fine).

I found that hard to take too. The guy with the lockup and cloning operation was probably involved with a gang that break into peoples houses to get keys, probably tooled up, and he gets £200 fine? He probably hand to be helped out of court because he was laughing so much.

Was nice to see our boys on the TV, the tracker unit on the roof is indeed held on with magnets and is only put on the roof when required.

I do wish GMP would get some plain armour covers though so they can be worn under a shirt, we used to get both but no such luck with the new style.

Agreed. It would cost the owner more to fit the tracker that lead the police to the car.

FQ300 was quick, but I'd have thought a class 1 driver in a Scooby WRX could have kept it in sight at least. Or was it simply that the crims in the Evo were willing to take excessive risk that the police driver could not.

Its not just that, they got the jump on them and then the concertina effect took over. It does not need much distance before you can do a few turns and you are out of sight. Oh and 220bhp vs 300 does not help!

I thought exactly the same 2 identical points last night when watching. Namely that I'd have thought that the coppers would be able to overcome 271bhp vs 300bhp, but then concluded that they were not taking the risks that the Evo boys were. (quite correctly, IMO)

I thought they were following the Evo in a Focus rather than an Impreza.

I seem to recall the momo steering wheel and thinking to myself that the cars were evenly matched. I thought he followed the 3 series with that Barry Hughes in using the dark grey Focus?!

Don't suppose anybody recorded it did they? Or is it due to be repeated soon?

Everybody at work keeps asking if I saw it (apparently the car was a ringer for mine)

Just looked at your profile; yup, same colour, FQ300, black spoiler, black wheels. I thought it looked good last night too as well as in your profile

WRX = 220bhp. But I think they may have been in the Golf that night anyway.

Lets go behind the scenes and show the development of the databases, Stolen vehicles Squad examinations, case file preparation etc by taking a case all the way through from start to finish.

dvd

has been done in the past, particularly the stolen vehicle squad exams intersting as a one off, not a weekly series

An interesting programme even though its not particularly different to the ones broadcast last year.

One question - there was a very brief shot of 4 aerials attached to a square plate on the roof of what looked like one of the unmarked cars - I assume these are some kind of communcations system ? I also assume that not all the unmarked cars have these otherwise it would be a bit of giveaway when trying to follow someone discreetly

Tracker aerials.......sadly.

What's the problem Tony? Don't you like being checked up on - like the rest of us?

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Dave, no,lol.....they are the aerials for the Tracker unit to help us find tracker equipped vehicles.

On this particular vehicle, they are, as has already been pointed out...removable as its a secret squirrel car

DvD

Camera crews and producers from Channel 4 have done two or three attachments with our Motorway unit, over the last 18 months or so. They are filming for a documentary about serious/fatal RTCs, from the initial job, through the scene investigation, location, identification and prosecution of offenders.

I'm led to believe they will also be dealing with next of kin, and other agencies involved (Fire, Ambulance, Hosiptals, CPS, Court system, Offender rehabilitation etc) to give a holistic picture of collisions, and the effects they have on all those involved.

I can't tell you when it's due to be screened, unfortunately, but if I find out, I'll let you know.

Dons flameproof coat, and waits for first PHer to start mutterings about programme being unfairly skewed to promote the "speed kills" mantra...
