"Driver clobbered for needing the loo"

Is that like "Rapist jailed for needing a shag", she was fined for speeding, she did it, she admits it....then the muppet goes to court to say she should get off.

Should have fined her double and told her not to waste police time.....interesting that she "made it home", no need to stop somewhere with a public loo then? cant have been that keen.

Suggested Variant = Motoring Urinal ?

Your Personal IP Address
"Internet Urinal
Shopping, gaming, chat rooms, cyber-dating - the internet is such an addictive and time-consuming force, who's got time to go? With the Internet Urinal, you'll never have to leave your computer again. Imagine the freedom - destroy your opponents on network Quake without taking a break; drink as many cans of Jolt as you want and still be able to make that last important trade before the market closes. Each urinal is made with hard plastic and comes with a handy female adapter. Holds 32 oz. of liquid (same as a Big Gulp!)."

Translucent might better avoid overflow spillage!
Other than as a satisfied user, I have no connection <sic> with this item

As for Sir Alex ---

There aren't that many scameras on the A27 in Sussex. Red light scameras, yes. Talivans lurking in lay-bys, yes. But I can only think of one Gatso in a 40 limit and that is as well hidden as the Eiffel Tower, all alone on a big grass verge with a yellow reflective panel. The only other one for miles is on a 70 stretch and well away from the now closed central reservation gap which was a notorious accident blackspot but, no doubt, the excuse for it being put up.

I have to say, being fined £160 for being 9mph over a 40mph limit seems pretty stringent to me.

Meanwhile shoplifters, burglers, muggers... (/stopping already)

Uhh, no. Not in the slightest. And I find it a somewhat distasteful comparison, but one which is hardly surprising given the emotionally-loaded crap the scammers and their supporters come out with to justify their actions.

So you believe that anyone who freely admits that they committed a crime, but genuinely believes they have extenuating circumstances to explain their behaviour and reduce/eliminate the resultant penalty, should just roll over and take whatever the legal system throws at them instead of pleading their case for leniency? Fining her double, good idea - 2*60 would have left her 40 quid better off than then 160 quid she was stung for...

Not bothering to stop en-route - you're making the assumption (and these days it's an increasingly large assumption) that there actually was a public toilet somewhere along her route AND that she'd have been aware of its location. For all you know she could have been absolutely bursting, and in an increasing panic about getting to a toilet before nature overruled her conscious efforts to avoid urinating, knowing that to the best of her knowledge, the nearest available toilet was the one at home.

If you're really bursting to go to the loo, you're hardly likely to be concentrating 100% on driving.

You dont "suddenly" reach bursting point, and if you have a medical condition whereby you do, maybe you should consider going first.

Seems like just another excuse to get off speeding. Is wanting a piss an excuse for not seeing the road signs? I think not. Is it an excuse for not concentrating on your driving, I think not.

By her own admission she hadnt seen the sign, what else hadnt she seen whilst driving, but yes the fine was a bit harsh I agree with that.

Maybe she should get one of these:

You'll have to type the second line of that link (go_cart_potty.jpg) or the link won't work for some reason!

lol....she wanted the loo!

she broke the law and then challenged it in court with an excuse as weak as her bladder.

i dont support/not support cameras, but i dont support daft old ladies that think their water works gives them the ability to drive faster than allowed....

and i think the head line of the article was a foolish attempt to suggest that a wrong had been done to this woman by "cameras"....if people want to make an issue for the removal of cameras as a speeding deterent then using the example of someone caught for speeding with this lame excuse is a poor way to go about it.

Funnily enough, I got let off by a Police Officer for doing a fair speed. I was in need of the loo, and I was heading home, about 1 mile away. When I was pulled over by plod and got out, my bladder was in that painful state, and I was literally hopping around trying not to wet myself by the side of the road. The police officer just looked at me sympathetically and advised me not to drive so fast if I wanted to keep my license.

IN terms of this lady, she believed that she had mitigating circumstances which would reduce the sentence on her, or perhaps even a duress type of situation to negate the sentence completely. Go to any criminal court and before sentence, defence will go with a Plea in Mitigation, where they will exlain how hard done by the defendant is because he had a hard upbringing, fell in with a bad crowd etc.... So it isn't exactly uncommon to do so..

Neither do I, but at least she had a plausable excuse, the majority of those caught who discuss their dismay on PH don't!

Yes they do, they're holding a contemptible law in contempt.

Quite right too.
