Also, please could you name the officer involved so that I can write a letter of commendation to his Chief Constable?
This was not a traffic plod. Having been burgled and not even had a sniff of plod attending, I tend to agree with the OP that plod ought to be putting his time to better use. He seems to be on a mission to nail the OP for a very trivial transgression.

Bet his head would explode if he ever caught sight of this...

911 LAW is available for £15k ... you could pay for it out of the money you save not getting fined ....
Yes. 3 guesses where that plate currently sits....
On a retention certificate somewhere.
In my garage waiting to go on the car....Didn't pay anywhere near £15k tho'
Nice to see that you've decided to buy a registration that means something without being butchered into a wk plate.

I have several private plates so don't disagree with why people buy them however, calm down.

All that shouting, and anger, will give you a coronary.

Two points strike me...

1. OP only says he has the plate wink. No mention of the V750. A photo of the V750 (address details redacted) with a tin of custard please will prove me wrong smile.

2. If OP really has entitlement to display 911 LAW why would he be displaying L17 WSY?
1: Course I have the plate, look who won it on eBay Mr Magoo...
2: I have only just bought the plate in the last 7 days and it takes 2-3 weeks turnaround before you can put the plates on the car
3: As soon as i can put the plate on the car, do you reckon the old plate might just be history?
I definitely would bin the old plate. You have little chance of getting the £105 it would cost to retain, especially if anyone googles the number and finds this thread wink.

Why didn't you get a good plate in the first place? You would have had none of this hassle from us or the people who can cause you real problems.

911 LAW is a great plate as it appeals to many markets. 911 drivers called Law, anyone called Law, 911 drivers in the legal profession and 911 drivers in general. Even better as it's dateless and can be put on ANY vehicle regardless of age. I think you have made a superb investment, especially if you put it on a car and don't have to pay £25pa to retain it.

It's very unusual to see a thread potentially go well after going so badly for the OP. If it were me, I'd bite the bullet with the case and have the last laugh when I drive off with 911 LAW (legally spaced) on my steed.

Although, ironically....it could have been an illegally spaced number plate dodging the ANPR cameras that would have allowed the suspect of your burglary to escape. Doubt you'd have thought it was a waste of time then!

Speed cameras recognised his plate, do try to keep up.

This thread encapsulates the worst elements of PH pack mentality.

Yes, silly me, was forgetting not all speed cameras are digital yet.

But it's still a failure at your end. Trick up your ANPR kit, then this rubbish wouldn't matter and you would be able to make productive use of your time where it matters.

But a few of us have unwound our original antagonism ....

OP didn't start well with the CAPS LOCK whinge but this has ended up as discussion rather than shouting at each other mostly ...

Can't help thinking that the OP deserves it this time, though. He's spoken very little sense really, what did he expect?

I saw that plate many many moons ago. IIRC it was back in the early 70s on a Bentley or something similar.

At one time PEN 15 belonged to ex bike and truck racer Steve Parrish. He also owned the registration 60CK. smile

Morally the OP, is wasting PLOD's valuable time, and he has prevented them from catching the muggers of old ladies, and allowed bank robbers to go free. He is therefore no better than a mugger and a thief.
I hope this is sarcasm. Otherwise its a little bit scary. After all he didn't ask for the attention, and I think even in this day and age the police know how to prioritise

Far too many of you out there simply took the opportunity to 'have a go' I would be very intrigued if everyone was as brave meeting face to face...
And that's where the big difference between online discussion and real-world happens. Yes, everybody would have said the same - but the difference is that you wouldn't have heard most of it, because it would have gone on in the background, out of your earshot. People have been stood around taking the piss out of your moody plate to their mates for years.

While this subject is winding down, hopefully. Is there any truth to the rumour that GB is eventually going to adopt the EU numberplate scheme?

There isn't an EU numberplate scheme for the UK to adopt.
