It's more likely Paul banned the person but decided to keep the post to show why he banned. To give background to the others..


You claimed to have sent an e-mail to Blick's editor and posted the reply. IN ENGLISH on EDP. When challenged by another poster (PH-er autismuk) you claimed to speak German "because you were born there" on the EDP forum in 2005. The mods deleted your post. Klaril had downloaded to Word to compose a reply later as she had to get back to work .. not having the life of leisure to chat in chatrooms as you seem to have. When she got back.. the mods had removed it because of some of the abuse directed at Klaril. She kept her evidence in case it was needed. She has returned to the USA now.

However, Klaril set a trap. Still to be found on EDp archives. She cut and pasted an article on the Swiss public's anger over some high speed train link and the then Minister of their transport. It had nothing to do with speed cams. You translated .. badly.. using babbly fish If you spoke "fluent German" - you would be able to summarise the gist in fairly reasonable English as Wildy has done when she has pasted up some link to "summat in "forinn"

Thus over and over again.. you prove yourself not to be truthful. The very trait you accuse the late Paul Smith of.

Er.. had to get that off my chest after reading that rather absurd nonsense.

My wife has commented that these attacks on cams and now cam vans seem to be increasing. It could be a result of the "wait and see if above" - because oddly enough .. we ain't all speedo gawping and it does cross many a mind .. that "I do not think I was speeding.. but I am not 100% sure I did not drift over"


Eventually .. I think some just "snap". We never had policemen assaulted like this in the good old days of the luking BiB. It may be a different "age/generation". It never crossed my mind to cheek the local bobby on the beat when I was a lad anyway.. and if I did get into any bother with another grown-up... I then got into more bother when my parents found out. These days.. tick off someone else;s kid as "nice concerned adult" and the potential thug's parents will "deck you one!"

So maybe the subtle changes in society is a part of this - along with that basic human yearning for that personal touch.


Would I attack a scam van man?

I think the "worst" we do is allow our kids to stick out tongues at the vans.. but I do not think the cam ops mind. They do smile at the kids.


The other sort of "bad" we did was park up behind one. We did have a cause to pull into the lay-by as the youngest needed a pit-stop nappy change at the time. He was most amused when my wife handed him the safety pins as we were experimenting with terry towels instead of "pampers."

Green? We cost the planet far more in boiling the nappies and on lubricating the baby's bottom .. and she still had a nappy rash. We went back to the "modern" way.

Would I report a burning fixed Gatso..? .. . er like my wife.. not immediately. I would get to a point of safety.. at a legal speed. Then call the authorities. By this time .. the cam will be dead and my conscience completely clear

I'm sure the fire brigade would have difficulty getting to some of our more remote locations in Cumbria, as several of the part timers who man the engines have had points from them, and tend to take their time getting to the station in case they get any more and cannot drive the engine!

It's also a bit awkward with BT removing so many telephone boxes, and drivers not being allowed to use mobiles while driving - it might be ages before you found a lay by!

He was always truthful, honorable and a charming, sweet chap. We often said stick to the truth, and the facts, in the end the truth will out. Seek out the facts, confirm then to be correct first, and question and analyse everything.

Paul worked so hard on Safe Speed, to do the very best that he humanly could. He was an incredibly intelligent man, and many recognised this, and from all walks of society. Time was always limited for everything that he wanted to achieve. There were never enough hours in the day.

The comments here are inconsistent and inaccurate, they are laughable. Paul spent days trying to explain it all to him, but he will never accept it. He has a right to his opinion, and we have a right to ours.

Safe Speed stands by the facts on our site - and if they can ever be proven wrong, they will be changed.

Really.. well it's been banned from this site three times already and Petrol Ted's parting shot - made after a day of 80 posts made within some three hours on puggit's thread of 8 July 2005 asking spindrift to prove what he was saying (and he did not then either) concluded that this person was not interested in debate .. so he locked the thread and its account. Our Petrol Ted's reply was his usual intelligently calm, logical and politely pleasant - memorable as well.


Plus - it's been kicked off every internet forum going - umpteen times.


But such is the emptiness of its life - that it re-registers immediately under another name and changed e-mail adress on a "hotmail" account to continue its sad and pathetic lifestyle posting up nowt but hate against anyone who drives a car or contradicts it on t'inernet.


Not everyone can be wrong here. Oh sorry.. everyone is is apart from this individual who blames everyone else for his own incompetence. He sure has more "accidents" than anyone else on his "bicycle"

Something very sad and sick about this bloke. Grudges carried on after the person has died... FIVE years of constant libellous accusations against the Swiss who post to motoring sites, cycling sites, horsey sites - usually with their COAST safety message running in the background and without making ad hominem attacks on anyone. I think the strongest comment made was a German bloke called Andreas (He was one of a trio - all called "Andrew/Andreas - and this was because the original Swiss Andreas found he could not find the time to reply and got accused of "running away" - so he recruited a couple of chums and then his admin team got involved. Not quite within the rules.. but Andreas is a bit of a "loophole merchant" ) calling the idiots moaning about pedestrians and "how they would cycle over them" - reckless hypocrites. Unfortunately, the user- moderator was one of this rabid clique.. banned Andreas and opened a malicious thread. Andreas simply picked up a telephone ..phoned the company and spoke to Mr Farelly .. the then editor of the magazine and the offence got removed along with the rabid moderator. This moderator then launched a public attack on the legal bod who removed his "power" - and somehow this sick individual made up and posted some very malicious and untruthful stories across t'internet... and then wondered why his "victims" contacted the legal arm of the publishing company running the board in a bid to end a nonense which he (and no one else) is still continuiing FIVE years later. This eventually resulted in a new forum - managed by Mr Farelly and which encourages chat about proper cycling. The idiots did not like the new board and favour "cyclechat" which is apparently not moderated. However, the "soap box" where it posts its vulgarities can only be viewed if one registers - so the little clique just "fiddle with themselves" all day there and no one actually sees or reads it and the public at large cannot read it -.. asumming they can be bothered. Because it cannot be readily read by the public at large - this places this section below the radar of the internet bullying/abuse laws currently under discussion by those making the laws.


Now that's the real reason why it gets banned as soon as they are aware of it these days. The cyclists have had enough and the only ones who bother replying to it on its own forum are of similar type. As in "do not ride but post for hours on end 24/7 on issues which have nothing to do with cycling, road safety... but more some competition as to who can prove who has the smallest kb in an internet "discussion"."


I dare say there will various vile accusations and wild ad hominem attacks yet again from this idiot. However, all it will prove is that he is a sad little person.

By the way.. there are numerous threads on safespeed's forum .. in the archives. These prove who posted the abuse and who did not. I think it safe to say that someone registering onto a forum to post vulgar and at times violent abuse to the forum's owner cannot be allowed to continue doing so.

I note spindrift has been unable to post a link to the thread in which he claims someone urged "killing cyclists". I think this is because such comment never was posted nor condoned either.

That's the general idea. By the time I've found a safe place to dial 999 - the cam will be beyond help.

You see - the mobile or "Herr Handy" as Wildy calls it .. sleeps in the glove compartment and I seldom use as "hands free" as I like to "feel the drives" around here as you probably know.


By the way - I will call in to get that "kitty-cat" pendant for Wildy. She's in the "dropping subtlest hints mode over some sparkly fallal she's seen in the jeweller's." I think the "kitty cat collar with a cool pendant" will be ideal jewellery for her.
