I am sure there are some conditions but in summary it says if no option is available you can eat anything available for you. BUT this applies for adults. For kids, these rules dont apply anyway.

If you ask me , this is a non-issue. Some old fashioned families trying to create a problem, thats all.

i am trying to be a good person, harm none and help who are in need. Thats what all religions are about anyway. Just because i dont practice, it doesnt make me a "bad" muslim. No offence taken , but thought i clarify.
Sorry I was not trying to offend. My friends used to call themselves 'bad muslims' because they drank. Its a term I have heard a lot, but not in any offensive kind of way, more an indication that they didn't follow the faith too closely.

I have found a part of the Koran that details this:-

http://www.dar-us-salam.com/TheNobleQuran/surah5.h...

Look at paragraph 3.

Even if the age wasn't enough,if I read that correctly it say if tehre is no intention of sin, pork can be eaten.

Of interest too is paragraph five where it says:-

http://www.dar-us-salam.com/TheNobleQuran/index.html said:
The food (slaughtered cattle, eatable animals, etc.) of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) is lawful to you and yours is lawful to them.
Does this suggest that if Christians can eat it under their religion, muslims can eat it with them? If so, case dismissed!

As i said, no offence taken smile

Yes you made very good points. No intention of sin means you ate it without knowing that it wasnt halal. In the OPs case the kid ate it without knowing.

About the second point you made; it depends if there is another surah which came later over riding the one you mentioned.

I really wish one day people will accept that its not all these little details that makes us good or bad people but its our intentions, helpfulness, forgiveness ...

I understood that the kid didn't actually eat it, but the complaint was about it being served.

Is a surah like a book in the Christian bible?

The parents that raised the complaint firstly me made to applogise for the mess they have started then they should be educated into their religion and also to the fact that they live in a mostly christian country, if they don't like it then the door is open they can always go to a country that better suites their needs.

Boils my blood reading this brown smelly stuff like this goes on and people pander to them.

Surah is like a verse in the book. A little section with unique numbers.

Treading on egg shells because some clueless moron of a parent has made a 'religious' complaint.

Forget which book of rules, deity or whatever is being 'offended' as it really is all about individuals and the bird-brained decisions they make. Followed up nicely by a spineless Pubic Sector organisation toeing the spineless, PC party-line. It makes me sick.

Oh and the rub overall is that scensoredt like this actually takes us BACK a few more steps but at least this school didn't cause the next World War eh! rolleyes

Here is no different to all those other idiotic occasions when things like this happen and I feel very sorry for the OP's O/H. She is nothing more than a victim of a stupid overreaction, followed by an even stupider one.

Yes i remember this being mentioned in Koran but dont know which section. The word "maturity" is used , there is no mention of age but Prophet has mentioned 14-15 years old as the age he expects the kids to take responsibility and practice islam.
Is that why he married a child then?

I don't think that I'd want to work in this type of environment personally.

I think that your wife has been treated disgracefully and I'd be looking elsewhere anyway.

Good luck. Personally, I would be looking elsewhere whatever the result of the appeal.

I would too, apart from the fact that my Spidey senses tell me that it could be difficult to find a school with a head and governors with balls and a modicum of common sense in such matters.

Hope the OP got a good result judge

Probably too late now but a mate of mine is one of those rarities, a HR bod with common sense, he loves diving in & knocking heads together in this sort of scenario. ( Merseyside HR Consultant if anyone's interested.) Doesn't stop me immediately thinking of Catbert though...

Awaiting a letter from the board - Early indications are the original 18-month first & final warning will be reduced to a 6-month first warning. There should also be warnings going to certain of the school's management. One of the board members spoke "off the record" to O/H after (the 3 hour hearing!!) and confided that he felt the failing started with management.....

It also came out that they wanted to sack her originally - Union Rep was apparently excellent and is gunning for them in a host of other areas where she has uncovered failings.

Will report when letter is received.
