Absolutely shocking. Unless there is more to this than has been communicated so far, I think the school has behaved deplorably in pandering to the threats from the agitating parents.

According to the information given here: the child behaved inappropriately, disregarded advice, and the the parents deliberately went out to cause trouble and enact revenge for their perceived religious slight (which is itself in doubt if the Quran statements above are correct).

The dinner staff executed the school's instructions as best they could, implementing a one-off change in process and made at worst a single accidental mistake. If the child queued at the wrong counter, even that is irrelevant.

The school should simply have told the parents to jog on, emphasising how tolerant and accomodating the school dinner policies and staff are to their religion, which is not the national religion of the country in which they are residing.

And maybe Pacha ... as they seem to prefer Arabic food.

Streaky

A whole, boiled sheep's head, off which the flesh is eaten, the eyes are picked (often using a finger-nail) out of the sockets and sucked like a gob-stopper, and the tongue is relished and often saved until last.

It's not easy to get whole sheep heads these days......

Well, a half then, for luncheon.

PS - I remember my grandmother boiling them for the dogs; in an old copper (no, not Derek Smith nor Dwight van Driver, nor Elroy Blue, and not even von hosen), after doing the weekly wash ... without changing the water! - S

PPS - on reflection, it might have been the other way around wink -S

And presumably the eyes are kept to last. As in the old saying "THEY'VE got to see us through the week" ( coat taken off peg, now opening door)

Challenge that.

There should also be warnings going to certain of the school's management. One of the board members spoke "off the record" to O/H after (the 3 hour hearing!!) and confided that he felt the failing started with management.....
Yes. They could have solved this with a simple response like this one posted above:

If this gets mentioned again it's harrasment. A totally ludicrous response.

The school are, argubaly, guilty of discrimnination. Just consider what I posted a few pages back:

Earlier I said:
Others have already calculated how many meals were served without complaint (and praise it seems) and how that works out at well over 99% right, day in, day out. It could be argued that dismissal with such a record, for one unproven complaint, is blatant discrimination. Effectively they are saying that Non Muslims must attain a 100% success when dealing with Muslims or they will be sacked. This is obviously an unattainable target and therefore completely unreasonable. It is also clearly motivated by religion.

Don't grovel or apologise. Tell them about the high level of success to date, the unproven nature of the complaint, the clear labelling of the canteen food and comment on the intimidatory tone of the letter. Clearly state that this is discrimination as stated above and that you will expect a suitable apology from the head.

Why would this justify anyone's racism?

Seems to me the school's management is as much to blame as anyone else here, and anyone who'd use the idiotic actions of a few to excuse their own bigotry needs a rethink.

Because what happens is people get f***ed off with bowing and scraping down to imaginary friends and taking punishment and stress as a result. They then resent the other individuals and increase their racist views.

Still no excuse though, is it? It's just a few close-minded individuals misrepresenting the majority.

Racism is by its nature irrational, so although people might take this as an excuse for their irrational prejudices it isn't one.

I didn't say that I did. My patience is wearing thin though for such things, I get fed up being told we are a nation of racists when I've lived in other countries and I know full well that this country is one of the most tolerant of others on earth.

I couldn't agree more smile

However I think that's mainly because when people try to exploit issues such as this, it's stamped upon.

smile I agree—historically and today.

I certainly don't think we're a nation of racists, but I have no tolerance for the small vocal intolerant minority.

No but we are a bunch of mugs in this country which is why so many head here.

We put up with stuff like this to our own detriment and doing so just adds to fuelling racism.

There are too many people out there determined to take offence at anything.

Who exactly tells you we are a nation of racists?
