I don't know DVSA's thinking,
You're confused about which Agency does what. https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/driver...

my drive isn't gated off nor has bollard, but I don't expect people to park on it if they work nearby.
True but if you had a car park for a front garden then you might. You wouldn't expect someone to use your toilet but if you put a portaloo on your grass would you be surprised to find a hairy arsed brickie in it depositing last nights curry.R32 said:
I'm struggling to see how much of a financial loss one instance of someone parking on your land would cause you. What maintenance costs are there with a small bit of road/parking space? No idea what cost could be associated with loss of amenity either.
You can only recover any loss you suffer and tbh it doesn't sound like there is much of a loss.
I'd say the simplest solution is to either gate off the land or use bollards in parking spaces.
Why the hell should the onus be on the landowner? Would it be ok for me to come and park my landrover on your lawn when you're not using it?You can only recover any loss you suffer and tbh it doesn't sound like there is much of a loss.

Also your advice about only being able to recover financial loss is out of date.

What do you think will happen once the parking company solve the problem? Seen as they operate a business that makes money then the only answer has to be - turn on the residents.
I'm guessing that the people employing the parking company can set whatever rules they like so it would be quite easy to create a situation where the company couldn't simply turn on the residents.Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
