He was trespassing when told by the ticket inspector to get off, whether he had a ticket or not. If he refuses to get off then reasonable proportionate force can be used to eject him. The more he struggles the more force can be used.

He had two single tickets!

So why didn't he tell the conductor that? (he just keeps saying he's paid)

Why didn't he show the conductor both tickets? (Conductor, keeps showing him that the ticket he has is for the journey going the other way)

He tried his luck, got called on it and lost. He's now just enjoying/milking his 15 minutes of fame.

Let's hope he enjoys it. Rail staff will know him on sight from now on and will challenge him every journey he makes. If he gets his face out there more, maybe people will start challenging him in shops and bars as well. I'd also like to see his chances at interview once he's finished his 'course'...

Thanks for explaining. Did he buy two single tickets for the same direction?

We weren't there and all we have to go on are second or third-hand reports from a few people who were and a short, edited badly recorded video clip.

If they had waited for the Police to sort this out, they would still be sitting there in the train now. The young lad seems to have lots of reasons now why he was not in the wrong, but at the time he was belligerent and rude even judging just from the short clip we've all seen.

A 'clip 'round the ear' mentality would sort out a lot of what's wrong in this country at the moment so I don't blame the Big Man for doing what he did, but now the media are on his back, the poor guy is probably going to wish he hadn't got on that train in the first place.

The bottom line is, if you want a quiet life just sit in a corner and don't say or do anything.

Even if he had a valid ticket, if he's told to leave he's got to.

Is there a legal implication as the "big man" asked the conductor if he should remove the bloke ...

If the conductor has told him he wants him to leave, then the other guy is just acting as an agent for him.

He clearly asked the 'official' who was physically incapable to remove the bloke if he could move him on his behalf. The conductor said yes and the bigman used reasonable force to remove him and keep him from re-entering the carriage. All the evidence to let the bigman go.

The only one that will get stuffed is the old codger - he better hope the kid didnt actually have a valid ticket

If the kid had 2 singles bought in error then I do feel somewhat sorry for him

The kid was almost certainly being a tt though soprob deserved what he got.

Your passage is conditional even if you do have a valid ticket. Be abusive etc & the service can be withdrawn & you ejected even if you've paid. Bit like someone buying a cinema ticket & then ruining the performance for everyone else, just because they've bought a ticket doesn't mean they can't be ejected.

Arguably the big guy was using a common law power to prevent a breach of the peace. Or at least that would be the case in England and Wales.

Really? How does breach of the peace work then in that case?

Hope big man doesn't get any grief from the rozzers for being a good citizen.

There are always 2 sides to every story although there'll be people jumping on the bandwagon either way.
