Fair enough. I thought some French company owned the crossing? How did they get to issue proper penalties then? Ho hum.
Urban myth. http://www.kentonline.co.uk/dartford/news/crossing...

I had one this week from a crossing I made in April.
Read the letter carefully, it wasn't immediately obvious but despite a £70 fine there was an option to pay the crossing fee of £2.50 which I did to cancel it all off.
My step Dad's had this option. I know it's only a small amount, but why should he have to pay twice? (He had paid at the time).Read the letter carefully, it wasn't immediately obvious but despite a £70 fine there was an option to pay the crossing fee of £2.50 which I did to cancel it all off.

I went through the tunnel and didn't realise that you can't pay as you cross anymore.
Fast forward 4 weeks later and I get a letter stating that if I pay the £2.50 for the crossing I won't get fined the £70.00 which I thought was pretty fair as it was my first time.
Still a complete PIA to have to remember to pay, especially when I rarely use the tunnel / bridge and when I do it's not usually planned.
Just do the easy thing like I did. I only use the crossing probably 6 times a year. I opened an account (dead easy to do), stuck a tenner in it, and whenever I cross they deduct £1.67 (a 33% discount on the normal price of £2.50. Zero hassle and saves money too. It's an absolute no-brainer.Fast forward 4 weeks later and I get a letter stating that if I pay the £2.50 for the crossing I won't get fined the £70.00 which I thought was pretty fair as it was my first time.

Have a look on Watchdog broadcast some time this week . Lots of folk have paid /not been over the crossing/ been out of country and have had demands for penalty fees .It seems Dart Tag folded when a complaint was made/ receipts produced.
Seems to be a general cock up with their ANPR kit. Quite comical piece with a dart player taking the mick out of Dart Tag.Sorry ,I can't remember the day it was broadcast, but I'd look first at Wed - Friday .

Exactly what I've done. I've been through once so far and probably won't go again until the autumn but a tenner keeps the internet free of me bhing about it.Edited by calibrax on Friday 26th June 09:51
