That wasn't a bad apple driver that was down to a bad operator.

Jobs aren`t that hard to come by FiF !

I'm sure you are right.

The investigation into serial abuse of hours by the employees of this particular operator came about due to a fatac out in the depths of East Anglia.

Unladen artic doing a u-turn in pitch black night straddled across a fast road. Two seater sports car gving it some didn't spot him and went under the side of the trailer. Decapitation resulted.

Turned out the heavy driver was running two sets of records. Not even difficult to discover the offence, bloke was nearly asleep on his feet.

Looking at the operator closer showed a bigger and wider problem.

That was then and now is now and the picture afaik is better. That operator is still on the go in case you wondered.

I have just come back from Florida, where the trucks were often doing 70mph on the freeways. Traffic flow was much better (than in UK) due to lack of speed differential, I think lorrys should be able to go as fast as cars.

It`s all well and good until something goes wrong. The difference in tyre temp at 56mph and 70mph is huge. Bang. Goodnight.

I've been passed by huge artics in Florida, on the interstate that runs up the Gulf coast, doing 90MPH+. I've also seem film of them hitting other vehicles - the other vehicle just disintegrates.
