Correct, they can be stunned which means they look like they are dead but they are still on and can be tracked and listened in to. They can also be killed which basically bricks the radio so it can't be used in any way.
The police have missed a trick there, surely the ability to remotely stun the person who thieved it is a better option.then just follow the smell of pissI noticed a convicted burglar in the news today who had committed multiple burglaries while wearing a tag, these could/should also be fitted with a stun gun quite easily.

As already said, many many users of the Airwave network over the Uk, apart from the obvious Plod, Amb and FARs..... HA, Councils, NHS, Blood Service... they all need a resilient (Yes, I know that users of Airwaves say its pish) network. SSE were even looking into joining Airwave to substitute their PMR system in the Scottish Highlands.
Doesnt this bear resemblance when Radar Detectors were starting to be used and beeping at traffic lights, door openers etc?
Waste of money IMHO.

I remember in the 90's a mate got done for speeding and got a very expensive radar detector, around town thing thing was going off left right and center. He said 'but I don't speed around town it for the nice open road with no traffic lights, automatic doors and false alarms' at the time I was working as a shopfitter, and was able to salvage a microwave/radar unit off some old doors that were coming out, a week later four of us went on a journey to a touring car meeting, I was sitting behind the driver with the radar unit and a 12 volt battery in a bag and connected the battery every time the speedo went over 85 mph, I was lucky at the end of the day i did not have to walk home!
