On my way to work this morning, I spotted a Truvelo on the Northbound stretch of the A167 (Durham Road) in the Birtley area of Gateshead. Considering I pass this place quite frequently, its amazing how quickly they've got it up. The limit is a 30, and the location is around 600 yards north of the main crossroads (station lane junction), near the Fire Station.

Watch out, because it very nearly caught me unaware! [although I think its not live yet].

Thanks for the warning!

I used to drive past there quite a bit a few years ago, there was often a bib with hair dryer positioned on that stretch. Hopefully the force hasn't had to reduce bib thanks to the new electronic scameras

ah ha another one!

There was one installed in seaburn only a few weeks ago and this is commissioned now, but I recently found out (from the safety camera partnership's annual report) that they have bought 8 truvelo housings but only 2 cameras.

Another truvelo was added in south shields yesterday, on Galsworthy Road, whiteleas estate. Not commissioned yet as the road sensors are not installed and there is still a protective cover over the camera lens.

christ - it's like a particularly nasty rash - you see a little bit first and then suddenly the buggers all over the place...
