Can anybody help me I have a strange situation.
Last year I sold a vehicle and took another vehicle in part exchange.
I have since discovered that the part exchange has outstanding finance .
I have tried to contact the guy with no luck . He changed his number etc
I recently hpi checked my old car and that is still registered in my name (I checked when got a tax reminder)
Now this is where it gets interesting.
I have just found my old car for sale on eBay and I know i am still the registered keeper .
How would I fare legally in going to view my old car and taking it back obviously giving him back his car and the difference he paid me.. I am stuck with a 10 grand car I cannot sell as I stand and at least if I gave him the difference he paid me I could resell my old car as there is no finance on that..
Any help would be gratefully received

Registered Keeper is not a synonym for Owner.

I understand this but as the payment for my car was mostly his car and a small amount of money surely he is committing fraud and therefor has never paid in full for the car

should be able to get his details for DVLA

saying you need to contact him to ask about a part or feature of the vehicle

send him a nice letter

if not could probably take him to small claims to recoup any costs incurred

Or write to the finance company and ask if they will release their interest in the vehicle?

Advise you are the innocent purchaser? See what they say? If the ex owner is still making payments, they might be happy with this?

sounds like something dodgy is going on all sides, the seller is meant to complete the form with the new keeper's details and send to the dvla
the person who sold the vehicle might not have been the person who took out the loan, he might have bought it and resold it without ever knowing it had outstanding finance.
