There's something of the night about our tame interloper from the Dark Side.

I refer to Steve Callaghan, mouthpiece of the Cumbria Pratnership, scooped by Auto Express with news of his new pink flashcam that's going mobile to snare those vile after-dark speedfreaks who're decimating the population.

Well done, Steve.

More distractions for drivers to look for, instead of concentrating on driving safely.

And your point is what?

Four collisions at night.

Not a single suggestion that excessive speed was involved.

Multi collisions and a junction.

Number 3 is a bit of an own goal, isn't it, frigate, old chap? It concludes that the speed limit needs to be doubled.........

Maybe they were all distracted by a rumour about nocturnal tax harvesters.

Destroyer, eh? Is that you, Stevie?

Thanks for your selective and totally biased info Destroyer.

I also recall Street recently stating that there were 12 accidents in his area, 10 of which occuring between 1am and 2am (can't find the thread, correct me if I'm wrong Gary), also rubbish!

The DfT have recently released a document that CLEARLY shows the average accident/fatality rate is highest during rush hour periods and is at minimum (10%) during hours of darkness, this is when the chavs, drunks and tired drivers are out and about!

www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/groups/dft_rdsafety/documents/page/dft_rdsafety_032139.pdf (page 25)

As always, thanks to SafeSpeed for opening my eyes!

Safe driving speeds can be higher during the night, but scameras don't know that! Also, they are even less visible when dark. This move WILL NOT do anything to help road safety, hence IMO this can only be a revenue booster

Ach destructive one - I have not seen you since the last time I drew blood ..... you ran away as always .....

Well .... Liebchen - ol' Wildy Cat does not suffer from the baby blues .....and has well tamed husband taking her youngest for a fast blat in the car.....

Ach! Destructive chumpibabes ....Liebchen - the new kitten is not breeding out .....she likes to drive fast..she has particular liking for Stag ... the throaty roar, smell of the leather .......much better than "twinkle twinkle..."

But .... "pussy cat ... pussy cat ...." (but that ist one the Mad Doc sings to me!

Any way - enough of this bedroom talk - my little chimpanzee in a pink string vestchen!

We had the guy in his chav car who overurned cos he only had couple of hours snooze after fell walking back in summer....

Und you post this one mein Lieber? He died according to your links after his mate collided with a Cavalier and minibus near a junction. The news article states that the limit should be highered for a change as well... so what caused the accident? Speed? Or one of the other cars pulling out into the Corsa's path? 8 pm - were any of these vehicles inadequately lit?

Liebchen - sighhhhhhhhhhhhh!.... you have not made the enquiry yet ..... so how do you know what caused the crash for sure?????? But I will bet one or more were not COASTING or POWERING ....

Are you trying to say that a pink camera flash light would have prevented these accidents?

How ist that exactly? .......

I'm just thinking, our new blood sucking vampire fiend must see lots of accidents whilst sitting at the roadside or on motorway bridges or why else would he be there? Safety, right? Maybe we should ask him?

Edited to say that: Maybe he has the same outdoor interests as Keith Lard in "Pheonix Nights". Woof! Woof!

that means no high speeds runs at night on the m6 then i guess unless i get two jammers or remove sections of both no plates. It is safe to do 100+ from Lancaster to Carlisle and don't say otherwise- for some reason many folks fail to comprehend that it's not the margin by which you're over the speed limit that makes one dangerous, but the manner of driving e.g. autobahns. I guess we could make up the time on the M74 once in South Lanarkshire(no scamvans) doing a steady 125mph. hahahahahahahah- so there ya go

So, four links to newspaper references to ONE accident, where excessive speed has not been mentioned.

Just what is your point here?

Something else to consider, CSCP are manning their vans with civilian operators. There is no provision in law for a civilian to make an opinion of speed which is then confirmed by a speed measurement device. There is no provision in law for a police chief constable to authorize a civilian to perform this task either.

If you are scammed by a camera van remember the following suggestions:

1) Ask for the police number of the PC who formed the opinion of speed.

2) Ask for a copy of the video evidence (to help identify the driver )

3) If they persist plead not guilty, get a solicitor and check out Pepipoo where there is a sticky thread where case dismissed as a result of this very fact.

Not a good enough likeness Liebchen....

You are not nor - though you eat enough lentils to ask if anyone has seen the toilet....and possibly you are only one on planet to eat Rhabarbermarmelade - which I believe to be of a similar pink colour ....but then you get a feel good factor from the runs .....but you should really talk more C.R.A.P.

I think this one smiley is a good likeness to you You look as handsome as

Und you drive me to

But in reality - every time I see your name in print - I think "man in a mask mit gun" ... attempting to rob me....
