Swapped car for time; headaches.
Discussion
Long story but I will abridge it as best I can.
A customer of mine that i've known for about 8 years had an old 309 GLX and recently bought a new car, and jokingly mentioned I could have the 309 for 'free' if I serviced her boiler for free for 10 years.
I agreed because, why not, and took the car away on Saturday just gone. I signed a piece of paper she drew up (I should have seen alarm bells at this point) which stated that the car (reg included) was being swapped for 10 annual services of her boiler. We both signed it and there were 2 copies (yes, I know).
On driving the car away, I realised within about 2 minutes that the clutch was almost gone and the brakes were binding quite badly. It also has a few other issues like a leaking master cylinder, various oil and coolant leaks. I spot a couple of these but did not test drive it before driving away. I got a chance to have a good look at it on Sunday and it has a lot of issues which would be costly and time consuming to fix.
I rang her Monday morning and explained this, and said really the best thing for us to do was i'd try and get it drivable, give it a good clean, and then put it on eBay where I suggested it would fetch around £200 on which we would go halves on. And rip up the servicing agreement. She agreed.
Forward to today. She rings me and says her solicitor says this contract is binding and she will hold me to it (bear in mind i'm very friendly with this lady and before this considered her to be a bit of a friend). Upon my surprise at all this, she also bands about things like she will 'grass me to the inland revenue' etc (purely because I am self-employed, a tax- registered business who pays a LOT of tax no less). I do not want the car, and said fine, i understand the contract but I will scrap the car. She says no, she doesn't want to see the car scrapped, BUT she does not want it back. She wants me to sell it on eBay. All the while with veiled threats of calling her solicitor, HMRC etc and causing hassle for me.
I have the V5 and have not sent it off yet.
So, where do I go?

How badly do you want to fall out with her? I doubt the 'contract' is binding & I doubt even more she'd pursue it.
Do her next service for free then conveniently never have time to get to her...
Oh, and you're a fool but you've already worked that out I'm sure
This. Politely suggest that you'll happily do the service every year, said service will involve you turning up, umming for a few seconds, and then leaving. If it breaks down, not your problem because that's not part of the contract Do her next service for free then conveniently never have time to get to her...

Your first clue is spelt 309.
They're ancient !

Maybe she's upset because you misunderstood what she meant by "servicing her boiler".
I've fallen foul of similar before.Once went home after a night out with a woman who wanted me to stroke her pussy. Trouble was, the bloody thing had died 6 months previously and was buried in the garden. Made a right mess of her shrubbery digging it up.

Ahhhh OP you have cocked up here
So she wants her 10 services, she doesn't want you to scrap the car, and the contract is legally binding?
I personally would say 'It's my car, I'll do as I please' make it road legal, tax and insure it, draw a massive willy on the side and park it outside her house.
What an absolute asshat she sounds like.

Funny thing is, I don't mind doing the services really. I thought the idea of me putting on eBay for her was a nice one for both of us but obviously she's realised that it'll technically leave her out of pocket because the services are worth more in the long run. Now most ordinary people would have a conscience etc and not act on this realisation but yeah, she has.
She has had some trouble with tradesmen some years back and it was us that helped her out and finished off all the work for her. Sad really that you can know someone for that long and think you're friends and then get done over for the sake of a Peugeot 309 haha
