Saw this on the Sunday Times motoring section

What's a "certified speed camera zone"?

And how does the database get updated? I pay £30/year for updates for my Geodesy so £50 for lifetime updates is cheap -- but will it be as accurate?

Reading the website further, I see it can also be used as the GPS receiver for PCs and PDAs. Pretty neat for £80.

id say its very good value for 80 quid when you consider the subsequent cost of the updates.

Would be interested to hear if anyone has any experiences of this bit of kit. If I didnt already have a Cyclops (many thanks to MarkMullen) I would deffo consider investing in one of these.

BUS LANE CAMERAS
What are they? A bus lane camera used to penalise cars and vans using the bus lane.
Where will I see them? They are currently only in London
I hope their database is more accurate than their advertising! - Streaky

agreed - I was also a bit perplexed as to why they have included a section on "weather stations" in the camera section.

Bit odd innit

I didn't scroll that far down. Now that I have, I also noticed:

SOLAR PANELS
What are they? Power for traffic monitoring sensor under the road.
Where will I see them? Beside major A roads and motorways
Who owns them? The Highways Agency
How do they work? The solar panels provide power for the traffic flow sensors mounted in the road surface.
Will I be fined? No

NIGHT-TIME SPEED CAM
What are they? Power for traffic monitoring sensor under the road.
Where will I see them? Beside major A roads and motorways

More errors - this time apparently caused by someone cutting and pasting the wrong descriptive text.

I presume that the solar panels are included because they are obvious 'street furniture' and some (many?) motorists don't know their purpose. Of course, they can also be seen beside lesser A roads and B roads (and possibly some 'yellows' and 'whites' too).

Yes, started a thread yesterday - despite the typos/inaccuracies on their web site (re other types of monitoring devices) this still seems to represent very good value...
