I thought there were new rules to consider bikers? The belief I had was that road planners should try to stop using lethal white paint everywhere, as the lack of grip for bikes is dangerous.
So imagine my suprise on the way home to discover the markings at a speed camera (you know, multiple lines, 1 foot apart) are now :-
raised rumble strips as well.
its a bit like the hard shoulder on the motorway. As you can imagine; for a biker, its downright dangerous. I was thrown all over the place.
what the hell were they thinking??!!

The more cynical would say they weren't thinking. The even more cynical would say (tounge in cheek) that they were thinking of your safety.
Designing safe roads is a long long way down the SCP's list of things to do. You'll see more biker unfriendly road marking as well as a massive increase in biker mangling street furniature over the coming years. It's all in the name of safety dontcha know.....

This proves the stupidity of scameraships - by doing things like this (in the name of safety.....) they are reducing the physical speed limit of the road, thus increasing the chances of accidents as it is a change in conditions that people are unaware of, so travel at the same speed as before.
I got blinded by one of the bloody things today. Overtaking towards a Gatso and it flashed right in my eyes.... I was seeing lights for quite a few seconds.
OK, I was well over the limit, but that could easily cause a crash. I thought the idea was to save lives, not kill speeding motorists

There's a bend near me that has seen several crashes in the last few years, anyway recently there have been 2 Biker deaths, one crashed into a steel lamp-post shortly afterwards they installed some chevron/arrow signs to show people the bend - the next death was someone who hit the steel post of one of the signs.
I'm not saying that the bikers didn't crash by their own doing, just that they would probably both be alive today if they had run through a hedge and into the field beyond instead of hitting the street 'furniture'

I can't see why many of these "signs" can't be afixed to lamposts where they exist. Why do they need an "extra" post of it's own? Many speed limit signs for example. But here again, I'm NOT a road safety "expert".
Maybe they should take advice from those that run road racing circuits?.............but, hey, that would be thinking constructively. Guess I would fail the interview for a job in the "scumeraship"!

Why is she here? She would not appear to have anything in common with most of us here. I can understand the likes of Steve Callaghan (Destroyer) and co. being here, know your enemy and such, but this spindrift character merely appears to be a bit thick.

who said I was speeding? The presumption they save lives is completey opposite in this case, I was nearly thrown from my bike due to dangerous road marking that caused the bike to behave highly eratically, nearly causing my death or injury.
If you have never ridden a bike, you are in absolutely no position to comment on the dangers of raised slippy paint on the road, that has no need to be there.
As for cameras saving lives; I have in the past been fined twice for speeding by cameras (some way over the limit too) and Im not dead. So therefore your logic is flawed. Surely I should be dead if I have gone past one over the limit?
As to the name calling; if you believe in its benefits, then you should be prepared to say it to my face:
dover docks 09:30am wednesday. Look for the bikers.

Freudian slip there! The idea is to save lives. You could always slow down to a less dangerous speed whic is probably that posted in the red circle

Steviebabes - as said - he ist polite - reasoning und logic I question - but he ist worthy of respect for at least coming to talk to us - even though he knows we will disagree. But ist at least polite chat with him und so was.
But check out one post made by this person on Paul's site (und was banned immediately for it) - und then look at C+ for Bimblywimbly fimbly und alex snelling.
You will find this person ist not even liked by even the most pro-speed cam person on there
They wer glad to see back of him - if the postings are anything to go by. Ist just an unpleasant personality ....und a sad one too.

Und if you cycle - as you claim - then you will know that road surgace und rumble strips such as this are very unsettling und unbalancing for anything on tow wheels.
As cyclist - you ave moral obligation to complain as this could unseat your fidgeting bottom from its saddle.
