Roadside radar (A303 Wiltshire) apparently recorded me doing 84mph on a dual carriageway.

The conditions were dry, visibility was good, traffic was light. But so what, eh? The law's the law.

Neither I nor my partner saw either an officer or a patrol car. Hmmm...

How many of you have points on your licence? I've been down this path before (an unmarked car caught me on my bike a few years ago): ironically my bike insurance premium stayed the same although my car insurer charged me extra.

This time, though, I feel completely deflated. Like, "Why don't I just buy a car that's mild and conventional in order to escape the feeling that everyone is out to get me?" I'm expecting a hike in premiums and, of course, I'll be paying more for the next five years (because, for some reason, insurance companies want to know whether you've had any speeding convictions in the last five years, even though after three years your points are annulled).

Feeling low...

No points yet and frankly I'm astounded by that.
The only reason I can think of is that I don't use any sort of radar/gps jiggery pokery so maybe I keep my wits a bit more awake and go a bit easier on roads I don't know.
Or more likely, when the speedo is doing 3 figures and I think I'm flying along, meanwhile back in reality my speedo is probably way out and I'm only doing 65. TVR's eh!!!
Hell, it's all voodoo anyways.

Stick the points on the Missus licence... it will be unlikely she get an insurance price hike as much as yours

Speeding points don't cost much at all - maybe an extra £20 on your premium - I know because I changed my premium after declaring an SP50, and it made virtually no difference.

The first 3 don't increase it by much but a second 3 certainly do - Its about a 20% loading with most companies.

What sort of fine can I expect these days? Last time I was caught, I coughed up the standard £40. However, when did they start taking income into account and do you think I'll receive anything other than a £60 fine?

If it was an NSL DC Itcy and you have less than eight points current on you Licence you should qualify for the Conditional Offer - 60/3points.

9 points and over "Mornin yer Worships"...

Blimey, sounds like something on the back of a cereal box.

My licence is clean, so I guess I can hope for £60.

Where on the 303 were you? I'm heading down that way at the weekend -- will be planning on keeping my licence clean... (ie speeding only on roundabouts...)

Apparently (and to quote from the NIP), "A303 Wylye Bypass (eastbound), (site AU7)"

I'd like to know where this is myself. I fancy doing a recce of the site when I get a spare day. We both swear that no police officer was visible but that's not something I can prove.

I saw your link to this site on another thread a few days ago. I've taken a look and I'm not sure how I can fight it. I may have been travelling close to the quoted speed in the vicinity of Stonehenge, so that's probably not an issue. And I can't imagine how I'd prove that a laser-wielding police officer was not visible to road users at that time. If, indeed, such proof would invalidate the speeding claim.

Unless, perhaps, I can somehow pinpoint "site AU7" and compare with the photographic images the Wiltshire Constabulary kindly provided for me on-line.

I've just taken a closer look at the on-line evidence and it appears the pictures were taken from the opposite carriageway. Perhaps this accounts for why we didn't see him.

when i called my insurers with my latest 5pts to add to my 3, they congratualted me on my spirited driving. Actually thats not true but she did say not to worry it wouldnt change my premium, and it didnt; renewal was 1 month later and went down!! - hastings bike insurance. she also said its rare for bikers to have less than 6... naturally im trying to get a decent length ban to really drive that premium down

pepipoo is great for technicalities and border line cases.

However, in the real world a day off work to attend court, plus the increased costs if you lose mean in the majority of cases the easiest answer is to say, "it's a fair cop guv" and take the 3 points.
