What the???? Consistency of punishment

Fugatso Girl and I have both been recently caught by scameras in our local town of coleshill. She was caught by a fixed scamera doing 39 in a 30. I was caught 4 days later by a mobile scamera van (that i'm sure was hidden) doing 34 in a 30. Ironic with my login name I know.
Anyway caught and time to face the music. Offences seem basically the same, police force the same, so how is it that Fugatso Girl gets £60 and 3 points and I get the choice of a speed awareness course £60 and no points or the standard £60 and 3 points.
Neither of us has any points at the moment, surely she should have the same options for the same offence??
Am I being stupid or is this yet another illustration of inconsistent punishment within our justice system?

Yup, my father got the course for 36 in a 30. Not sure what the cutoff is (between 36 and 39, I guess!) but the lesser the offence, the more likely you are to be offered the points and the chance to keep your license clean.
Surely the higher over the limit, the more benefit would be gained from the "Speed Awareness" course.
I think this is one the anomalies picked up by Paul Smith of Safespeed: Minor transgressors get offered education, but major transgressors, who (in theory) would benefit most, do not get the choice.

I think its good that such courses are being offered. However... I get the distinct impression they are being offered for speeds which previously would have been below the threshold for an FPN. I think there are only a very few drivers who are genuinely being offerd an alternative to the ticket.
This is of course stupid, because those drivers doing 35 in a 30 were less of the problem than those doing 40-something, yet the driver who arguably needs the education isn't going to be offered it.
