what would happen if you were flagged down by BiB, you pulled over, stopped, switched off the engine but then wouldn't get out of the car - ie sat there with all the doors locked.

How would this escalate?

I wondered this after the guy in the truck dressed as a woman who wouldn't come out of the cab and they took ages with him.

as an extra to this, what would also happen should you then have locked the doors with the key fob (which dead locks them in my car) and then smashed the fob?

And also what would happen if you were siting in the car, gaffer taped to the seat with the doors welded shut, the whole car put in a box, then chained up and lowered into a shark infested tank?

Simple really....if you have committed an offence, and need to be arrested, in goes the window and out you come. I have done this for a chap who refused to extract himself from a car he had stolen. He came out quite easily through the drivers window once I had put my baton through it.

If it is a non arrestable offence, and I am unable to find out who you are, smash out you come under section 25 of Pace.

If however, we can confirm who you are, and there are no specific offences where we need to search the car or you then that's fine.

Indeed, a hypothetical question with a hypothetical set of answers, give it a go and see....

So, IIUC, locked doors with windows closed and mugshot page of passport pressed up against window for non-arrestable offence (is that upto and including dangerous driving?), means that ones cross-dressing habit stays safe?

Seems like a small price to pay.

If only I had lockable doors...

I refused to get out my car once. Was driving along a 30 limit, and had clocked the police car from a long distance. Approached the roundabout, braked very gently and the car slid. He follows me and pulls me over. It was pissing down with rain and he asked me to step out the car. I "politely" pointed out it was raining and I was on my way to work. He said fine, but could you wind the window down further. I asked if he wouldn't mind going round the otherside of the car, as I was getting wet through this window. Fair play, he did as he was asked, and let me go after a cursory check of the state of my tyres.
