Scooters - BiB advice please

Someone on here just said this to me:
Is this true? I know whats going to happen if I get caught, as effectively I have no insurance and my licence would be invalid, but do the police really turn a blind eye to derestricted scooters?

At the end of the day even with the scooter fully de restricted and running sweet no one is going to bother you if you are riding sensibly

I think you have answered your own question really.
If you were to have an accident and police attend then you face having no insurance to pay for your losses and being reported for the offences.
If you get stopped for whatever reason then you also face getting reported for the offences and as of January 1st the possibility of the bike being seized.
