Parking Fine £100 or £50 within 14 days

Hello chaps,
I am feeling a little agrieved after getting a parking fine when the time run out on my ticket.... Was picking my sisters kids up from school after their chrismtas carol service and had paid for an hour and a half on the meter. After getting a little delayed at the school I returned 10 minutes after the time had ended to find a traffic warden smiling as he slapped the ticket under my windscreen wiper. Come on its Christmas!, I said to which he just grinned as he turned his back on me.
Yeah I know I was 10 minutes late but FFS £100/50 is just a joke!
What would you think my chances would be in contesting this even though I think there is probably no point and I might as well just bend over and get it over and done with???

Your only recourse for action is to say you didn't get the ticket - did the warden take a photo after slapping the ticket on?
