That motorway advisory speed limit sign.....
Discussion
....is no longer advisory?
I just surfed the highway code and found that the sign in question no longer appears to be advisory:
"Temporary maximum speed limit" - no mention of advisory on the page
www.highwaycode.gov.uk/signs01.htm
Please someone tell me (and prove to me) that I'm wrong!
Is this what I suspect: a really very sneaky manoeuvre?

OK, so if a matrix sign is advisory how come you are going to get a nice cheery NIP for exceeding the speed on a matrix sign on the M3-M40 stretch of the M25 and also on the new stretch of the M42 (to give the two examples that immediately come to mind)?
I think you will find the M25 & M42 have compulsory limits which are indicated by that big red circle surrounding the speed limit.
If the red circle is missing then it is only advisory.
