Guns?

OK, bear with me on this one

Last night I gatecrashed the Sussex Ferarri Owners meet in my Cerb (was just popping in to say hello to an old mate)

Anyway, I arrived at the meet in full TVR Cerbera glory (sports exhaust/decatted etc ), pooping and banging away, and left 30 minutes later doing more of the same (got to show these boys what a proper car sounds like )

Anyhoo......

Mailed my mate this morning to make sure they heard me leave to be told that someone in the villiage had phoned BiB to complain about the noise (oops ) and 2 BiBs turned up about 9pm...both wearing sidearms

Since when did Sussex Traffic carry guns? Im guessing they 'may' have come down from Gatwick, but its a good 25 mins from Gatwick so Id be suprised if they where.

Anyone shed any light on this?

Maybe your TVR's 'pops and bangs' were described as gun fire by the public and an armed response was deemed necessary? I've never seen traffic cops with firearms though!

Saw a bike cop round the City the other week, with sidearm. By stealth and guile....

Tasers are only carried by armed police, and if they carried a Taser they would have a sidearm too, and probably be carrying it. Also all the UK tasers I've seen are bright yellow.

Some Forces have combined the roles of traffic & armed response vehicles.
